Clarett spilling the beans

if gameday comes to cbus for "the game".....i hope and pray the masses are smart enough to flat out boycott the site....

I would be behind Geiger 100% if he decided to take a stand and ban ESPN in any form from the campus.

I never need to see GameDay from there again.

Well-- Maybe one time.

But it won't happen... The way the polls/BCS work, those fuckers have you under their thumb to play along.

Reporting is their job.
Like it, or not. If a name like MOC wants to talk, they don't care if it's the truth, they only care about ratings.

There is alot of stuff that we all see reported every day that we know is BS.
However, this one hits home.

What if these things are true????

Ok, I am going to bite...

What changed in this story that allowed the ESPN legal team to allow this story. Supposedly the ESPN legal team had killed this story before. Was it just the Clarett quotes? If this has been out there for a year or so, what else have they digged up?

I know the sources aren't that great... but really if they did not have any hard facts somewhere I can see Ohio State suing ESPN very easily. (Of course I am not a lawyer but I love playing one on the internet)

I know the popular idea is to call the reporter a hack... but it will be interesting to hear what Geiger says at noon. Then how ESPN counters... because I have a feeling they are holding back a trump card for 2nd story... cuz you don't shoot such a fluff piece out with quotes with a little more proof than he said she said.

So Mr. Geiger... it is time to hear what you say... and it better be the truth cuz I smell a trap for the 6pm Sportscenter.

There comes a point where you have to take a stand. Besides, we're not Miami of Ohio, any year we go undefeated or just lose one game, I don't care how biased the pollsters are, they can't ignore us even if we ignore them.

Not sure anything would be different anyway. There's one pillar of objectivity on the media poll who has come right out and said he wouldn't vote OSU into the top 25 because of the way they handled the Clarett situation.

Ryan Hockensmith is a former Penn State student. That's interesting.

Anyway, I know it won't happen, but that doesn't stop me from wishing it would.

Somewhere at some time, someone is going to have to take a serious stand against what journalism has turned into.

Yeah, reporting is their job. Reporting news. Not making it. Or creating it. Investigating is part of their job as well. How well are they investigating? Well, let's see...so far they've talked to MoC, Sammy M, and Marco Cooper. Yeah, there's definitely no bias here....

And they're not true. If they were, we would have been busted during the initial investigation. I'm sure there are boosters, among others, who cross the line. But no more here than at any other school. I'm gonna need a whole lot more proof before I believe that Tressel was doing anything illegal.

I'm waiting for the follow-up, with corroboration from Irizarry, Guilford, and Derek Morris

I can see it now.

"We had to mug that guy on the Oval because Tressel didn't come through with my cash that week," Irizarry said.:2004:

piney....it may be as simple as the rule of three in journalism....

you need three, not two, not one.....three sources to verify and collaborate the story....

it looks like espn finally found a third in either cooper or maldonado...

What I just heard on 1460:

Tressel and Staff, and Boosters gave him improper funds.

Tressel gave him loaner cars

Dick Tressel got him a high paying landscaping job that he didn’t even have to show up to.

Both Tressel and Staff told him not to say anything. All tried to cover it up after Clarett got in trouble.

I probably missed a little of it too...

True, however, they do question Cooper, and Sammy credibility too.

I am just saying, so many people think JT is so Godly that there is no way he could ever do anything wrong.

They are reporting what they are told. I would hope they did a litlle research before putting this info out. If not, then shame on them.

They may well be true. But come on, they wanted to time the release of the story with the Michigan game originally. Is that just fair reporting, or is that timing your bomb so it has the most casualties?

No one I've spoken to have read the article and come away feeling like it's just honest reporting. Without my even telling them how ludicrous Marco Cooper and Sammy Maldonado are as sources, I had a Husker friend ask what we did to make ESPN want to tear us down.

It's an attack. Two sides aren't presented here. This isn't just a fair accounting of information. It's an article, written with a slant against OSU, guilt is presumed. No mention of the NCAA clearing us, no mention of the fact that we dropped the biggest penalty on Clarett we had available for his offense. Hell, I'm surprised they even included Geiger's assertion that Clarett promised to get the school back.

Reporting is fine. The problem is, no one just reports anymore. The line between reporting and editorializing blurred long ago.

All clarrett had to do was put in his three years and he was set for life. Forget the first round money, he could have made six figures as a spokesman in any number of industries. Watch this mother do time someday for some really stupid thing, it fits his profile.

Edit; With all the talk of sueing ESPN, why not sue asshole and take his fouth round money for the trouble he has caused.

Well.. I think it's about time people around the world realize how much the media hates us..

This is there way of getting back at us for playing boring football.. LOL! I can just see it now over at BN... "Man if we just threw the ball around a little more they never would have looked at us."

You know.. now I am looking forward to the day that Ray Lewis hits him for the first time.
