Clarett spilling the beans

From the Press Luncheon

Today:

REPORTER: Jim, in light of what is on espn.com, one of your former players alleges that you made improper benefits and your brother made also improper benefits, and yet you'll say you have no response to this?

TRESSEL: Well, as Steve mentioned, this is a two-part scenario today and Mr. Geiger is going to speak to those situations. I have not seen or read anything, and as Steve mentioned, my task today is to take care of discussing the Michigan State game and the Purdue game.

REPORTER: You don't feel that you need to say anything, though, to refute this? TRESSEL: No.

Ugh, my aching head. I leave for an hour, and there is an additional 9 pages to this thread. Plus, there is still 86 people viewing it. Blah, blah, blah. I didn't see a whole lot mentioned about Geiger's press conference (at JT's luncheon), but he went into some minor detail. He advised that there is nothing new with these allegations, and that all of them have been investigated by the NCAA last year....with no wrongdoing found on the university's part. He also pointed out (again) that MoC is a horrible source that has been caught lying to coaches, NCAA, and the police. A reporter asked him if he thought MoC was lying, and Geiger responded by saying he did not believe these allegations were true. He then reiterated that none of these accusations are new.

What this thread needs now, is good healthy debate about the merits of MoC's former legal case against the NFL.

I still say that the NFL is well within its rights to set parameters for who can enter the league. That by doing so, they aren't infringing upon someone's right to earn, as there are other options available to them. Albeit lower paying options, but the right to earn doesn't also cover how much.

Okay, let's not actually talk about this, but I just felt it was worth flirting with the notion of one giant all-encompassing MoC thread. Witness the destructive power of a fully operational ... yadda.

What kind of lunchmeat do you think MoC likes. I'm guessing turd loaf.

From the transcript of todays press conference:

REPORTER: What do you make of the fact that it's not just Maurice, it's more than one player that's kind of making these charges?

GEIGER: Well, I know who the players are and what their experience was at Ohio State. I know Marco Cooper and Sammy Maldanado are mentioned in the story. You guys can look up their activities.

Good answer by Geiger, Cooper and Maldanado might have even less credibility than Clarett.

"We dealt with this guy [Clarett] for 18 months. I just hope you've checked into the background and history of who you're dealing with.''

The face of credibility.

Reply New Post ESPN's Top 10 freshman of all time MoC is #1 in my book.

Is the the only player that had to overcome Jim Bollman.

Reply New Post Re: ESPN's Top 10 freshman of all time Who's #1, Peterson or Walker. I'll go with Walker #1 & Clarett as #2, because they both helped lead their respective schools to a NC. Lets see if Oklahoma wins a NC this year before we begin to anoint Peterson as the greatest Freshmen ever.
