Rumor is we are about to sign OJ Howard, would be a nice pickup at TE if true. Sure he didn't turn out to be the 1st round pick he was drafted at, but he's good enough and I don't want all the eggs in the Hayden Hurst basket. Plus our options behind Hurst ain't good, so this would be a welcome addition.

As to cuts, nothing that earth shattering. Headliners were Browning, Mike Thomas, Moss and unfortunately Chrisman. Thought Chrisman punched his ticket, but apparently not.

I think they keep Chrisman in the fold, so long as another team doesn’t claim him, and it’s his job next year.

They cut Allen and Browning is on the practice squad. So Joey B is the only quarterback. Maybe I misunderstand the rules about practice squad players, but I thought they weren't allowed to suit up for games. I have never noticed an NFL team's roster without a backup at QB.

Allen looked pretty good to me in preseason. Seems risky.

Seriously?! Unless I misunderstand the rules as you said, that seems like an insane move. Frankly I thought Browning had the slight edge in preseason, but Allen was no chump either. I hope this doesn't mean Allen might be gone.

Another somewhat surprising development is that rookie guard Volson will get the starting role in the opener. We'll see how he fares, but I view that as good news because I really don't see Carman being a reliable starter. Plus Volson plays nasty, though I am sure he will take some lumps as a rookie (as about any rookie OL would)...good news is I am very confident in Jonah, Karras, Cappa and Collins, so I think Volson will have some help and not get picked on too bad if he struggles at first.

Bengals Released Veteran Quarterback On Wednesday

Even though Allen was released by the Bengals this Wednesday, he's expected to be back in Cincinnati by Week 1.

Up to two practice quad members can be elevated to the game roster without adding them to the 53 man roster. A practice squad member can be elevated to the game day roster three times. After the third, he must either be added to the 53 man roster or waived.

Good to know, I am clueless on how roster moves in the NFL works. Sounds like Allen probably knew this was a temporary move and he'd be back soon.

Teams the Espin game day team picked to win the super bowl: Bills, Bills, Bills, Chargers, Packers. Bills because, y'know they just played a few days ago, and people's attention spans these days rival that of fruit flies. Bulletin board material, Bengals.
