Cincinnati Bengals (Just Burrow In)

I hope Burrow has no rust, bc it sounds like he might be running for his life again. Collins on the non-injury list and Cappa on the PUP, the two most critical adds on the OL. I hope it is nothing serious and just being cautious going into camp, but with our luck at OL you have to be a little pessimistic on that outlook. Taylor is saying Collins they are just being cautious with back pain, but shit...that could be two key guys out on the OL to start the year.

Oh and Burrow is having an appendectomy...I don't think that will take long, but just feels like fuel on the fire.

Based on his time with the Cowboys, La'el Collins has a history of not being physically ready for camp to start. I think he played 12 games over the last two seasons.

That's what I was thinking, there may be a reason the Cowboys were fine parting ways with him other than the money. The scuttlebutt is that he has lazy stretches and gets out shape. I was hoping Pollack might be able to change that, but I guess we will see.

Apparently Zach Carter (3rd round DT rookie) has looked really good in camp and is being tough to block...music to Bengals' fans ears, sounds like a true 3-tech that can fill in situationally right away and we need some of that with Ogunjobi gone. Right now we are heavy on more traditional 1-techs, so a quicker interior DL like Carter could find himself a role right away imo. If the DTs do their job, I really like our DL this year...Hendrickson, Hubbard and presumably Ossai if healthy are terrors on the edge, plus Sample and Kareem looked pretty good from my view when they got their opportunities.

In other news, word is Drue Chrisman, who Buckeye fans will recall with affection, may well beat out Huber at punter for the job. I would not be surprised really, Huber has played in the league for what like 20 years (?) and noticably lost a lot of distance on his punts last year. In any event, as much as I love Huber, seeing Chrisman win the spot would be cool.

Defense apparently dominated the live scrimmage yesterday (link below if you want to read it). Not surprising with Burrow out, but really positive reports on rookies Zach Carter and Jeffrey Gunter (DE picked in the 7th round who I think could land a roster spot and role in our rotation, great pass rusher). AKD also looked really good with Wilson being cautious coming off a labrum surgery and sitting out. Hubbard and Hendrickson dominated, but they seem to do that with everyone.

Try to read into it positively I guess, we did have Cappa and Collins out (apparently Cappa played in short yardage situations, which is positive news honestly). Collins is working on rehabbing his injury apparently. McPherson went 6 for 6 on FGs, but what's new with him being consistent.

"I take great pride in the run game. A lot of guys just want to rush the passer," Hubbard said. "I think it's vital to any defense to stop the run to earn the right to rush the passer. I love playing football. I love playing the run. I don't care. I know what my coaches and teammates think. That's all I need to know."

Sam Hubbard...how lucky were we to have this guy as a Buckeye and now a Bengal? To think he was a lacrosse commit to ND and just started playing ball at safety when he committed, dude is an absolute monster now. DE position in Cincy is going to be scary for opponents this year.

Cincinnati Bengals to play at Paycor Stadium following naming rights deal

The Bengals will have a new name for their home stadium.

The facility formerly known as Paul Brown Stadium will now be called Paycor Stadium, the team announced Tuesday. The Bengals sold the stadium naming rights to Cincinnati-based Paycor, a company that specializes in human resources software.

The agreement is for 16 years. Financial terms were not disclosed.

"This is a move that I think my father would have agreed to. He was always for what is best for the football team," Bengals president Mike Brown said in a statement. "This partnership allows the Bengals to continue to compete at the highest level in the NFL and exemplifies our long-term commitment to the community."

Ya think Paul Brown just rolled over in his grave?

I’m sure Paul Brown would’ve still found a way to keep his name involved (Paycor Field at Paul Brown Stadium). But I’m all for this move. It generates even more money, and this deal guarantees they stay put for at least the next 16 years, not that it would be an option after the run they had last season.

Collins got cleared medically, really good news. Doubt he plays much (or at all) in preseason games, but this suggests he should be ready by Week1 imo. First preseason game is tomorrow night against the Cardinals.

I would be ecstatic if all of the “entrenched” starters got MAYBE one series all pre season. There’s just no use risking major injury with this team. And it gives the team much more time to evaluate depth players.
