Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

Capacities of the aforementioned stadiums of UC, Northwestern, and Rutgers:

Cincinnati: Nippert Stadium (35,000)
Northwestern: Ryan Field (47,130)
Rutgers: Rutgers Stadium (42,000)

The only other B1G stadium with a capacity less than 50,000 is Maryland's Byrd Stadium (48,055). UC can EABOD...
UC has plans to expand the stadium into the 45 - 50 K bracket. Not sure if they can raise the money to do it and there you have it. Cincinnati and UC come to impasses like this because they don't play nice with Columbus and no one in the Tri-State pays taxes to them. Examples: Most Reds and Bengals fans live in NKY, SEIN, Butler, Morrow and Cleremont counties, but only Hamilton county residents pay taxes for Paul Brown and Great American stadiums.

Where could they expand? They can only build up at this point since the location isn't the best, that's been their problem for years

With the renovations and added boxes Nippert's capacity will be 45K at the start of the 2015 season

Sounds like they'll be lucky to top 40,000.

Here's a new look at the progress on Nippert Stadium's renovation:

The project will add more seats to 91-year-old Nippert, increasing capacity from 35,097 to about 40,000. UC has been playing football at that campus location since 1901, making it the second-oldest college football site in the nation behind only Penn's Franklin Field.

Nippert Stadium update

Upon returning, visitors will find a new press box and space for private suites, indoor club seating, as well as loge boxes. Total additional seating is expected to hit around 5,000, which will take a sell-out crowd at UC to roughly 40,000.

Wowwwww, 40,000?!? It's like they're one of those upper-level MAC teams now (or Northwestern)!

Even at 40,000 they'd still be over 7,000 behind Ryan Field...
Not that that's important. I was in Dych for 2013 game with both teams undefeated (?) , Game Day on Hand and Homecoming and there were still empty seats. You can take the El from almost anyplace in Chicago and get off just a few blocks from the stadium, but the town and the students just aren't excited about Northwestern football. UC has been able to fill Nippert depending on the opponent and the fortunes of the season, they'd struggle to fill Paul Brown unless they turned loose a ton of tickets to the Ohio State crowd, something they're not prepared to do.

Wrong. I know of at least two games in my lifetime in which the Buckeyes played in Cleveland - Toldeo a few years back and Northwestern in 1991. In 1916 they played Case in Cleveland and Western Reserve in 34 - in 44 they played Illinois there.
Funny enough, I was at both of those games. Even though I've never lived closer to Cleveland than Delaware.

I don't know why OSU would want to play UC at PBS again, but I guarantee a game with OSU would sell out PBS. Only the lunatic fringe down here thinks OSU should come to Nippert.
