Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

I dunno they have a history of Poaching our coaches the last 10 years or so if they don't hire in house. Dantonio, and Fickell
I hear you, but idk if they keep Coombs if they pass him up. He’s on his 2nd stint at UC, and actually wants to be there. Doubt they get Herman or Sanders. Hartline will be interesting, but Dantonio and Fickell we’re actually coordinators when they left.

I’m not sure why you’d think that. Minter, Dantonio, Kelly, Jones, Tuberville, and Fickle all came from outside the organization. I can’t remember UC ever promoting from within other than as an interim head coach.

Because when those hires were made, either the former coach took all of his assistants, or the coach was so bad they let everyone leave. Coombs, and Gino are worshipped by UC and Cincinnati, especially Coombs who's a Cincinnati HS institution. I could also see UC going to scUM and trying to poach the DC, Minter before Hartline. As he grew up literally around the program because of his dad. That's 3 guys with ties to the city and university that I think they'd look at before Hartline, IMO

I think one mistake a university can make in a selection process, whether it's students, professors, or coaches, is to give much too weight to whether the candidate has local ties. I don't know if or how UC's AD John Cunningham factors local ties into his evaluation process, but I'm hoping it isn't a big factor.

Another mistake a university can make, is elevating a position coach who's never called plays, to be a HC.
