Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

Take another look at those numbers and check out USC and UCLA - and we added them to the Big Ten for what reason? Giving programs that were going bankrupt a shit ton of Midwest dollars doesn't sit well with me, but then I'm not a Rutgers/ Maryland fan either. More games against teams I don't give shit about and fewer against those I do.

UCLA is certainly a financial basket case, but I've never heard that USC had money issues.

I think their value goes beyond just eyeballs, and watch those numbers go up when they're playing Big Ten schools. All reports that I've read said that inviting them made everyone's slice bigger, so I don't think we're subsidizing them. More of a win-win arrangement.

I may be completely wrong here but if I understand how these tv network deals (SEC/B1G) work, it is all about getting the games broadcast to a certain number of television sets regardless of whether people actually tune in to watch them or not.

So adding the California market (much like how Rutgers and Maryland add NYC and DC) might bring in revenue by this year virtue of having to B1G network broadcast on many cable package deals throughout the state of California.

Again I’m at 100% certain that is how this stuff works but that is the impression I’ve got from reading about it.

Personally I am not a fan of it either but unfortunately nearly all decisions that are being made that affect the game nowadays is about the money first and fan experience second.

Someone on an OSU Facebook page is claiming their hearing a Hartline to the Bearcats rumor.

Anyone else hearing this...?
The Googles shows some rumors out there. We'll see how credible it is. Didn't Hartline say he was happy here and not necessarily looking to move up the ladder? He made ~$20M in his NFL career, so he isn't hurting for money. Then again, I don't have somebody dangling a $5M a year job in front of me, so who knows.

Seven Potential Candidates To Replace Luke Fickell

Internal Options: Kerry Coombs, Gino Guidugli, Mike Tressel

The three top coaches remaining on the Bearcats staff would all be decent options to guide UC into a new conference. Coombs has deep connections in Cincinnati as a native and HS coach dating back to the early 80s.
He is already the Bearcats interim head coach for the unannounced bowl game.

Guidugli is one of the great Bearcats football icons ever, owning multiple passing records, with more passed up by Desmond Ridder.
With ten years of coaching experience at Central Michigan and Cincinnati, he knows what this team is all about.

Defensive coordinator Mike Tressel is on his second coaching stint at Cincinnati and has extensive experience as a Power Five coach. He's sharpened the Blackcats defense over the last few years. Tressel is due for a good head coaching opportunity and could get one in Clifton.

External Options: Deion Sanders, Brian Hartline, Jason Candle, Alex Golash, Jesse Minter

Primetime would be the splashiest hire by far, but also could be the best. Sanders just led Jackson State to its first-ever undefeated season and did it with the No. 1 2022 recruit in Travis Hunter. He played for the Cincinnati Reds and could shoot UC into another stratosphere with his recruiting/coaching charm.

Hartline is the wide receivers coach at Ohio State and the man behind a dominant position group over the last few years. He can recruit very well in Ohio and bring a youthful energy to Clifton.

Candle is one of the best coaches in Toledo history and has the Rockets back in the MAC Championship Game this season (52-32 overall record).
He is a great talent developer and knows the ins and outs of midwest recruiting battles. Candle also took over at Toledo when Matt Campbell left for Iowa State with little drop-off in success.

Golash is a streaking hot name in coaching circles after leading Tennessee to astounding offensive numbers this season as the Vols' play-caller. He's coached at OSU, UCF, Toledo, Iowa State, and now Tennessee over the last 20 years.

Bonus: Michigan defensive coordinator Jesse Minter also makes sense as a target. He is the son of former UC head coach Rick Minter and was on staff from 2007-08.

Just sayin': If I was the Juggalos AD, I'd try to get Coach Prime.

SHOULD CINCINNATI HIRE DEION SANDERS?

Cincinnati needs a new football coach, and Deion Sanders might make a lot of sense.

Luke Fickell jumped ship for greener pastures in Madison, Wisconsin, and that means a search is already underway for his replacement.

Believe it or not, Sanders could be a hell of a choice to send shockwaves through the college football world.

Deion Sanders to Cincy makes a lot of sense.

Cincy has a very competitive and scrappy brand. After all, we’re talking about the only G5 team to ever make the CFP.

The Bearcats play with a chip on their shoulder, but have damn sure competed with pretty much anybody over the past few years.

That’s a very similar attitude the one Deion Sanders has had at Jackson State. He took an FCS job, stacked the roster and just capped off an 11-0 regular season.

The identity Sanders carries as a coach and person is the exact same kind of identity Cincy has created over the past few years under Fickell. There’s no doubt Sanders could continue it.

Furthermore, one of Deion Sanders’ greatest skills is his ability to recruit. The man is a freak of nature when it comes to recruiting.

He’s convinced several legit FBS prospects to drop to the FCS to play for him. There’s no greater example than former top-ranked recruit Travis Hunter playing for the Tigers.

You bring him to Ohio and give him the resources of a soon-to-be Power Five team, and he could feast. The state of Ohio had 14 recruits in the class of 2022 that were at least four star recruits in the 247Sports rankings. That number expanded to 77 players when including three star recruits. In the 2023 class, the state of Ohio has 10 players who are at least four star recruits and 80 players who are at least three star recruits.

The state is loaded with high school talent and Deion Sanders would probably do incredibly well on the recruiting scene.

Coach Prime is the only candidate that has the potential step in and quickly take the Juggalos to the next level in the BIG XII. The negative is that he would not consider the Juggalos a "destination job" and he'd be gone as soon a better offer came along.

Now if the Juggalos want long term stability with their football program, I'm guessing that the only guy that would consider Cincinnati a "destination job" would be Coombs. OK, Coombs wasn't that great as a DC at Ohio State; however, he can recruit. He won't get the 5 star guys; but there are enough leftover 3 & 4 star guys that would come and make it a successful/winning program. Fickell proved that. Now if he could hire good coordinators and let them do their thing without trying to micro manage, I think that he could be reasonably successful there. And he's a "Cincinnati guy" and that would probably be a "lifer".
