WLW? Have you heard any of the people those clowns give paychecks to?

The only thing more sorry than WLW are the people who bother to care what they're saying.

Shock jocks who get paid to be douchebags to pump up ratings. *shrug*

At least they have an excuse to be stupid about this fabricated controversy.

Despite Pike having surgery today, Kelly's not ruling him out for Saturday.

CBS

Cincy's Pike has surgery on left forearm, still not ruled out for Saturday

CINCINNATI -- Quarterback Tony Pike had surgery Tuesday to repair a damaged plate in his non-throwing arm, leaving his status uncertain for fifth-ranked Cincinnati's game against Louisville.

Pike broke his left forearm last season, had a plate and six screws inserted, and returned after missing two games. He led the Bearcats to their first Big East title while playing with a cast on his arm.

During a 34-17 win at South Florida on Thursday night, the plate shifted when Pike was hit, forcing him to miss most of the second half. Sophomore Zach Collaros helped the Bearcats (6-0) pull away, running for a pair of touchdowns.

Pike met with a specialist on Monday, participated in a light practice with a cast on the forearm, then chose to have the surgery after consultations with another specialist. Coach Brian Kelly was notified on Monday night.

The plan is for Pike to spend two days trying to keep the swelling to a minimum, then return to practice on Thursday and see what he can do. After that, Kelly will decide which quarterback starts against Louisville (2-4) on Saturday.

"It's going to depend on the next 48 hours," Kelly said. "He cannot go out there if he can't protect himself. We can't put him in a position where he can't feel comfortable in protecting himself. The last time [he had surgery], it took two weeks for us to feel he was ready to go. We're hoping that process is accelerated. That's why we're not going to rule him out for Saturday night now."

Cont'd ...

Exactimundo -- WLW is the home of trash talk radio. Say something loud, base it on anecdote or opinion, call it a fact and see how many folks on either side of the issue will pick up the phone and prove themselves fools.

Despite the mild jab in the first paragraph, I can't really take issue with anything in the article.

For more than a century, there's been only one college-football team that matters in Ohio. Right now there's still only one. But it's not Ohio State.

If anything, the writer takes pains to point out what an aberration this season is, and how transitory Cincy's moment of glory might be.

Other schools have football monopolies like this?LSU and Nebraska come to mind. But Ohio State takes it to a different level. Located in Columbus, the largest city in the nation's seventh most populous state, it attracts fans and recruits from every corner of Ohio.

And in the spirit of extending the peace pipe (as opposed to the piece of pipe that I usually reserve for the Fredo schools) to little brother, I'd like to congratulate the University of Cincinnati who, in their last game and after 124 years of playing "competitive" college football have finally clawed their way to an all-time .500 record. Congratulations, Little Brother.

Cincinnati's football program dates back to 1885, but its all-time football record stands at exactly .500 (541 victories, 541 losses and 51 ties). Its last bowl win came against Southern Mississippi in the 2007 Papajohns.com Bowl.

Still can't stand those naked kittens.

The fans can enjoy this little wave of success, because when ND cans the fat ass and Kelly jumps to coach in South Bend, they will be back in the throes of mediocrity.

Correct, correct, and correctamundo........every dog has it's day, and by golly, U of Cincy is having theirs. Great. When the little brother grows up and bests big brother (in anything), they crow all over the neighborhood. That's expected. I for one am happy for them (even though I am also a Miami U alum), but what goes up must come down.

Heck, with all the 'sudden' success, maybe the NCAA will investigate UC, and then what? One never knows. Kinda like a stock that suddenly soars, and the regulators want to know why.

Anyway, the 'shock jocks' (aka Mark Mays) make their living pulling in the good ratings, and being controversial is an easy way to do it. Plain vanilla will have you being a newspaper reporter pdq, not an 'on-air' personality.

What is a bearcat anyway? and where did WKRP get to?

if you say so. I don't recall seeing it at UC games this year, but I rarely pay attention the scoreboard from my vantage point...

You're right. My bad. The UC administration doesn't have anything to do with the bUCkeye state nonsense. Oh wait; yes they do.

Can you imagine the howls of self-righteous whining that would emanate from Oxford or Athens or Clifton, if OSU sold t-shirts at the university bookstore mocking one of The Other State Universities. Then again, Ohio's Flagship University has more common sense and common decency than to do that.

obssess much? What's your address? You can PM it if you want. I'll order one for you. :wink2:

It is a shame, really. I'm sure it all has to do with basketball in UC fans minds. And there was a fair share of gloating over OSU's win over UC four years ago when Cronin was essentially bringing a program back from the death penalty. The venomn and hate the spewed on this board towards UC back then was 100X worse than this...

...stop being so selective in your memory and try to remember if you're gonna give it, please be able to take it.

Now, with that said, I will say again that I am not proud of this as an alumnus and have writen the athletic department to shame them for this campaign. As always, I'm more concerned with UofL and Tony Pike's health and how OSU's offense is going to rebound against the Gophers than I am with a stupid t-shirt and radio add...

Actually, I recall the vast majority of OSU fans not expecting much out of UC that year and therefore not being overly excited when OSU won. Why gloat when OSU beat such a lousy opponent?

Here's the thread from the Dec '06 tOSU-Cincy bball game for anybody who cares, or wants to re-live it. I don't see a lot of venom from this board. The part I bolded seems like hyperbole.

I agree. H&G said that "The venomn and hate the spewed on this board towards UC back then was 100X worse than this." Setting aside the ridiculous "100X" claim, here's nothing even remotely close to "venomn [sic] and hate" in that thread. He's 100% wrong.
