Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

I was in favor of this in 2017, and I'm still in favor of it:
A G5 undefeated w/respectable P5 wins should get a shot before a 2nd team from a P5 conference.
I'll always favor settling it on the field. That includes the CCGs and Rivalry Week results.

This would be their rebuttal...
I'm all for them making the CFP and having a similar outcome to knock some reality back into them. And I could realistically see OSU play them in the Semi, and that would be ratings gold and a dream matchup for the committee.

Who was the better team against a common opponent?

Leave transitive stuff to the twitter-verse; it’s perfect for the short-attention-span world. BP has a long history of posts detailing the weaknesses of 1-game or even 2-game transitive comparisons; it doesn’t need another one. Suffice it to say that most of the people here know better than to draw unwarranted conclusions from the above.

I thought it was a legitimate post, supposedly the CFP Committee uses/considers "results against common opponents" in it's ranking process:

What will the committee use to rank teams?

Here’s the official answer from the NCAA’s website https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2019-12-28/how-college-football-playoff-works

Selection Committee members will have a wealth of information including review of video, statistics and their own expertise to guide them in their deliberations. They will emphasize obvious factors like win-loss records, strength of schedule, conference championships won, head-to-head results and results against common opponents. The playoff group has retained SportSource Analytics to provide the data platform for the committee’s use. It will also include general information such as each team’s opponents’ record. The platform will allow the committee members to compare and contrast every team on every level possible.

It should be noted that the committee will not use a single data point such as the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) that is used for NCAA championships.

Regardless, if you think it is an inappropriate post go ahead and delete it.....no problem.

You need not take it personally

Just because the committee uses it as a criterion does not mean it’s a good criterion, and I believe that most of BP knows that.

if, however, this generates some discussion, by all means, have at it

I am just under the impression that BP is above transitive chest thumping

But I’m wrong all the time, especially when I guess what other people will find worthy of consideration. Do whatever you like.

I love the city but UC fans can EABOD and I hope they lose one or get beat down 69 - Faygo by Bama, OU, or even better the Buckeyes in the CFP.

Or SMU can just do us all a favor.

UC gets us “in our feelings”?

He must have had someone disagree with him on twitter. That’s awful. I hope he’s gonna be ok.

You nailed it if you read the whole thread. It is pretty sad. He comes to the realization that it is probably Twitter trolls as most tOSU responses say they root for Fickel and UC until it affects the Buckeyes.

That's exactly it! I went to a bar to watch the Buckeyes game last Saturday and had my Zeke jersey on, and a few guys tried to talk shit about UC being better. I just told them they can settle it on the field, but I rooted for UC, and actually went to more actual UC games in person than them. Their argument didn't go very far because I didn't consider them a rival, because they're not! I told them I root for them when they don't play OSU, and that I thought it was funny how many UC fans there were this year and last, but not in Fickells first year, and not too many UC chest thumpers when Tubberville was around...
Needless to say they left me alone and watched as OSU decimated IU
