Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

I don't think TCU, Kansas or Texas Tech are beating them

that leaves

Texas - Ill believe it when I see it
Baylor (road) - meh, maybe but likely? probably not
Iowa State (home)- same as baylor
Okie State (road) - probably the best shot, maybe? They are 5-0 but probably the least impressive undefeated team left.

Doesn't even address my point. OU might go undefeated. That it is unlikely is a mathematical fact.

Same thing applies to the Bearcats. ESPN has our chance of winning out at 33.3%. Even one loss knocks us out of the CFP, so the odds of us getting in are just a fraction of that - maybe 5%. We need a number of losses by key teams. Oklahoma probably needs to drop two to fall below us in the CFP.

Was at the game last night with some buddies, and though they blew out Temple, I noticed a few things:
Temple isn't a very good team
The defense sets the tone for the team
Their offense isn't very consistent, and relies too heavily on big chunk plays
I didn't see a player that would make the 2 deep for OSU. No knock on Ridder, but I thought he would light Temple up in the same way Stroud has been the past few weeks.

I'm not trying to hate on the team, and I'm happy for their success, but if they make the CFP, it could get ugly no matter who they play. Though I could see them keeping up and possibly winning or at least keeping it close in a NY6, similar to 2020.

I have two questions.

1. How were the fans dealing with the success?

And

Oh man, cockiness is on 100 right now! They're full on Brian Kelly era confidence right now. But very worried about keeping Fickell. After bringing up that I'm a Buckeye fan, but support UC, they wanted to yell about the Oregon game, and I let them have that false bravado for a little. And then would end multiple conversations by saying, but there's not a college in America that can poach our coaches...

That's definitely their biggest worry after losing Kelly, and then losing Freeman. Success is a double edged sword for a program their size. They think the saving grace to keep Fickell will be joining the Big 12

I don't really understand how people go about ranking teams. It seems to me emotion and some vague idea of fairness is involved.

The Sagarin Top Ten is shown below. This ranking has its flaws, but at least it is objective and attempts to rank teams based on who is more likely to beat who in a given matchup. This ranking seems more realistic to me. With regard to the CFP, I think the top three are in if they take care of business. Spot 4 is what everyone else is competing for.

Okay, so Alabama lost to Texas A&M, who is currently 17 in the Sagarin rankings. I submit that one upset loss doesn't mean Alabama is more likely than not to lose to Iowa, Cincinnati, and Oklahoma, who are 2-4 in the AP Top 25. That being said, I think Cincinnati would have a reasonable shot at beating anyone ranked 4 or below on that list.

1 Georgia
2 Alabama
3 Ohio State
4 Oklahoma
5 Iowa
6 Michigan
7 Penn State
8 Cincinnati
9 Florida
10 Notre Dame
