Charlie Weis (ex-Kansas HC, ex-Fla OC, Notre Dame legend, UnDecided Schematic Advantage)

Weis said in his own press conference that he only started Jones because Clausen was injured and that he intended to start Clausen all along
Knowing Weis, this may just be his pride talking. Jones was actually the most consistant QB in the Spring game, while Sharpley and Clausen didn't show much and the other transfer, Frazier, produced zilch. I'm not saying Weis wouldn't have bench Jones the first chance he screwed up, cause he did put Sharpley in pretty quick, but I think he was willing to see how Jones would perform before benching him in favor of Clausen. Jones could have produced as a receiver, but it was his decision to strictly play QB. Personally, I think the exposure he would get at ND at WR would trump playing QB at a school like NIU...worked well for Arnaz Battle.

Either way, there was almost no chance of Weis replacing a player like Jones this offseason.
Hey, if Weis needs "a player like Jones," then sign me up! I may hate Notre Dame, but I'm not stupid. I'm quite certain even I can scramble for a positive yard once every four carries, miss my WR targets by ten feet, and fumble twice on five drives. Where the heck is my scholarship!?

You know what's amazing to me. Here we are on The Ohio State Buckeye Planet message board and there are fully 200 more posts in THIS CRAPPY head coach's thread that the Jim Tressel thread.
The last two pages of JT's thread are analysis of his character for jumping up and down after a FG block. That should tell you a lot about how controversial JT is, and why we talk about him so much.

Hmm, will JT wear the scarlet sweatervest this week, or the gray one?

yes, I know. So what's the problem? Jones apparently is claiming he was told differently. Yeah, sure. College players are sooo good at telling the truth. :roll1:

So, if you're lied to by your boss/superior and you decide that such behavior is not acceptable to you and you take action, you're a selfish idiot. Thanks for the life lesson...

Again, this is all in Jones' head that he was "lied to" and decieved. Yeah, he's believable. :roll1:

More importantly, Jones should know that ND needs to release his scholarship for him to play elsewhere. Of course ND will eventually release him so they can use that scholarship for next year. But that scholarship is rather useless right now for them so they can keep it if they want. That being said, Jones should have handled his departure more intelligently and maturely and thereby increase the odds that ND will be nice to him in return.

Jones left 15 minutes before the bus was taking him to the next game. Selfish idiot is certainly appropriate. I'm sure we'd all defend him if a Buckeye player did this. Suuuuure...... :roll1:

And given that Jones started the first game of the year, Weis kept his word. IT was open, and his putrid performance quickly shut it.
