Game Thread CFP Playoff Cotton Bowl, tOSU vs Texas, Fri. Jan. 10th, 7:30 ET on ESPN

Tougher game than I thought it would be. I don't think that tejas discovered some magical formula to neutralize Smith. They just triple teamed him all night thus finding out the hard way that we have a lot more weapons than just #4. I don't think he's going to disappear for two games in a row though, and if the domers want to do what tejas did, have at it.

Texas never led. Never. Texas had so many lucky breaks, bounces, fumble recoveries, 4th down conversions etc to even make this close.

The only time Texas really had a shot was when they got the ball back 14-14. Other than that it was all OSU's to lose. Lets not forget, our offense would have come back on the field with plenty of time left had they scored.

The Georgia game comparison I see people make is terrible. It didn't come down to a kick. We led for most of the game. It was a game we should have won if not for cheap shots to the head.

This Texas game did NOT feel like that at all.

They put a zone cover over the top of the offense and forced them to take smaller chunks to work down the field. It is the blue print on how to slow down/frustrate and beat a Ryan Day offense. It's nothing new but you have to have the horses that can do it.

The trick to it is being able to be, somewhat, multiple out of it because if you just sit there in soft zone, Kelly/Day will pick you apart. I don't know if any other team I have seen in CFB this year has the secondary to do it as well as Texas did it.

Both him and Judkins have this weird fixation on stopping as if we live in cartoon world and the defenders will just keep running right past
Which is crazy because on some plays Quinshon will, as Marshawn eloquently put it, run through a mother fucker face. And then on other plays, he wants to dance around in hopes of breaking a long one. Can’t fault him for wanting to break a big one, but on the short yardage down where it looked like he had an opportunity to move the chains if he just cut it up field and took the yardage that was available. Would’ve been close, but I think he could’ve gotten it.

I'm afraid to watch the sky cam on that play, bc I'm pretty sure I'll see a hole that would've gotten just enough for a 1st down

There was a massive cut back hole. Don't need any replay. I saw it.

That play though, I was going nuts. Why pitch it when you just need one damned straight ahead yard and have a capable QB?

Sark said hold my beer later but at the time, I was definitely thinking that Day/Kelly had shat themselves.
