Game Thread CFP Playoff Cotton Bowl, tOSU vs Texas, Fri. Jan. 10th, 7:30 ET on ESPN

@EngineerHorn gutsy tough play by the horns last night. respect for how you guys kept fighting back. nothing about that performance to hang your heads about.

was great to have you on the board, pitching in. hope you stick around... lots to talk about in the offseason before the rematch. arch vs sayin... gonna be a good one.
Appreciate it. That fumble return was a gut punch.

Lots of thoughts but will keep it short. Two massive plays. Ohio St made them, UT didn't. Ohio St deserved to win. Congrats!

Many on the UT side blaming Quinn for the loss. His pocket presence has been a source of frustration all year. Credit to the Ohio St defense for collapsing the pocket so frequently and making him uncomfortable. But the outcome wasn't Quinn's fault. He held his own and put UT in a position to tie the game late.

Sark....oof. We've struggled in the red zone all year against good defenses. Ohio State's is elite, and that's exactly why you don't call a pitch on the goal line. I'm not sure we score a TD on that drive anyway, but the pitch didn't help. With that said, let's say UT scores a TD there. Ohio St gets the ball with 2+ minutes left with a FG to win. If that didn't work, Ohio St has the advantage in overtime with UT's red zone struggles, so I think they win there anyway. So that eases the frustration some. No one likes to feel they gave the game away, but I don't think that happened last night. Margin was small, but we got beat by a better team and I can live with that.

Ok I'm done what-iffing. I know you all can do that too with some of Day's decisions.

Don't think we've ever played someone twice in a row. Looking forward to August.

I hesitate to bring this up, because it may sound a little arrogant and self serving. But, the reason the Buckeyes won is that I wore my undefeated homage tshirt, my lucky black and scarlet Buckeye socks, and I watched the game on the McAfee broadcast. Don’t underestimate the significance of that last thing. All three games were Herbstreit free.

Cold comfort I know, but from my perspective the number of good bounces, the many amazing plays that succeeded by a fraction of an inch that it took to stay within reach until the end is a testament to how great Texas played. Your guys played uphill all game, but they still forced our guys to use everything they had to win. Frustration sure, definitely no shame.
Cheers

August going to be a struggle for us. It will be a 90% different OSU squad. Always felt like we won this year and Texas gets some semblance of revenge next year.

I don’t believe Herbstreit-free is the cause for victory. It is, however, a sign of intelligence and good taste.
