CBF40's look at '12 recruiting (BP's prediction thread)

I think the reason you see Meyer casting such a wide net is that it is difficult to know which of the above recruits are actually coming in at this point. We could realistically see a scenario such as the following:

1. Dodson sticks with UW

2. Diamond goes with Arkansas or Auburn

3. Spence stays closer to home with Maryland

4. Pittman sticks with MSU

5. Dunn flips to Michigan

That would be the absolute worse case scenario, mainly because it results in an utterly deficient offensive line class in a year when we need offensive linemen.

Two down, three to go:)

Any more predictions, OH1O? What are your thoughts on the Buckeyes' chances at a national title next season? What about Braxton Miller's chances at winning the Heisman? Keep 'em coming, you've got the Buckeyes on a roll! :tongue2:

Just to be clear, they weren't predictions. It was the worst case scenario. Still think we need Dodson and Diamond.

Yes as important as these two guys are important to the class they're being overlooked a bit by some (not all or even most) just because the DL haul is so great and could be greater, and everyone wants to have a Ginn/Harvin type impact player on their team because of their excitement and hype. Dodson seems like a decent possibility right now but Diamond is more up in the air. I can't think of any other OTs being recruited at the moment.

You could say the same for LB. There aren't any superstar names out there, but the one kid who's name escapes me looks like a great prospect. I don't know anything about the PSU LB though.

Which leads me to believe that a position change is in the works for Fragel, Farris, and one more current d-lineman. I don't think that Meyer will reach for just any tackle this late in the process, and the Bucks are in on some really good players at other spots with limited numbers (as far as we know) left. I'm guessing that it's roll the dice and hope for two of Diamond/Dodson/Davidson, and fill from within the current roster. Next year, the offensive line gets a make over.

You fill this class with the best available players, regardless of position at this point.

I'm starting to think the same thing. Yes, we need OT help but if those desired target go somewhere else take the other elite targets available. We could really see some speed if any of Diggs/Jones/Etc... Want in. If this class has extra room we are not seeing then it's moot anyway. Would love to a 25 spots.

And let's not forget that our staff our famous for last minute late offers as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the worst case scenario happened and we missed on all OT prospects that there may be a plan b type guy from OH waiting for an offer and commits late in the process.

FIFY.

Our staff has changed and it appears that recruiting practices have changed as well. Hell, it doesn't appear so, it is so.

I am hoping you just forgot Diamond and you don't know something I don't? (Actually you know a LOT that I dont.)

I just can't shake the upcoming Arkansas and Auburn visits...after those we will know more. I certainly think the staff will find a way to fit another OL...whether it's Diamond or someone else.
