CBF40's look at '12 recruiting (BP's prediction thread)

Spence has said on several occasions that he would announce at the Under Armor game...now that doesnt mean that we could blow him away so much that he commits right away here...i mean, our coach is tUFM

That's kind of what is was saying, but perhaps not clearly. I have this feeling that if things fall into place he may want to add to the growing energy around the program. Prue speculation and nothing more than that on my part though.

I think the reason you see Meyer casting such a wide net is that it is difficult to know which of the above recruits are actually coming in at this point. We could realistically see a scenario such as the following:

1. Dodson sticks with UW

2. Diamond goes with Arkansas or Auburn

3. Spence stays closer to home with Maryland

4. Pittman sticks with MSU

5. Dunn flips to Michigan

That would be the absolute worse case scenario, mainly because it results in an utterly deficient offensive line class in a year when we need offensive linemen.

Nostradamus your not (thank God), only kidding. If you have anymore projections, please do tell?

I hope Urban wants to take my civil procedure exam for me tomorrow. I can't focus at all with how busy this day has been. Schutt, Pittman, and Washington is a great DL class, whoever else we get is icing (though Spence would be some awesome icing).

You're not alone. I've got a Property exam tomorrow and can't go five minutes without looking to see what else has transpired.

I find it a bit ironic that, for all the hype and hoop la about coach Meyer being an offensive genius, his first two commits are defensive Linemen:)

Yeah, no idea why though, he had elite defenses at florida. 41-14 (only one touchdown) it took a great defense to shut down the buckeyes. I was always just as excited to see the new defense under meyer as i was the offense. The man knows how to coach both sides of the ball. I didnt realize he would hammer the recruiting trail like he has, and convert elite players. No wonder everyone else is mad we recieved a waiver lol.

Having an all star coaching staff helped immensely. Meyer is great at picking the right coaches. Charlie strong was even more important than Meyer on the defensive end and he was a stellar recruiter in his own right, and u can see that at Louisville what he's done there in little time.
I'm sure fickell was just as integral in getting schutt and Pittman, and will be as well in sealing the deal with Spence. But I can't wait to see who we get on the o line now since we r really getting tight to the wall with scholarships now

So now we've got:

QB: Jones
RB: Ball, Dunn
WR: Epitropolous, Southward, Lewis, Thomas
TE: Thomas
OL: Boren, Elflein,
DL: Schutt, Washington, Pittman
LB: Roberts, Perry
DB: Bogard, Powell, Murray

That puts us at 18 right now.

Saw somewhere that we're now at 81 or 82 schollies (Not sure if Dunn was being counted) for next year factoring in current verbals. That would put room for either 3-4 more in this class, with the added possibilities of transfers, early entrees, and medical waivers. Also gotta account for the 2 scholarships being reducted. Wonder how many we end up with.
