CB Bradley Roby (2x All B1G)

A distracted Brad Roby is still better than 90% of the CBs in college football.

After reading Ross Fulton's (11W) defense film-study after the Wiscy game, I realized I didn't know squat about Roby's responsibilities in that game and how stressful they'd be. The coaches put a huge responsibility onto Roby, asking him to provide run support along with covering Abbrederis on an island in man coverage. Nobody else would have the ability such that they could even be asked such a thing.

Bottom line: Roby hasn't quite been Roby, but he hasn't been as bad as many of us seem to think. He's still a supremely talented corner.

Get the feeling that Roby is in a similar situation that Shazier found himself in last season: great individual talent but unable to play fast on the field b/c can't fully trust the guy next to him is going to do his job. If we had a good safety playing next to Roby his play would probably improve dramatically.

Huh? I though CB and Barnett are/were pretty good. Roby was struggling before CB went down.

The rule is beyond stupid. I'm all for trying to make the game safer, but football is a violent sport and those who play know the risks involved. When a rule changes how you play the game (fairly), it's horrible. This and any of the helmet-to-helmet stuff reminds me of grade school dodgeball rules. If the kid ducks and he's hit in the head, he's out. Only with football if the offensive player ducks and helmets collide, it's totally on the defensive player... Seems legit.

Time to start equipping players with three flags around their belts.

"Big Ten officials have done a great job, and I had a good conversation with Bill [Carollo], the head of the officials, and they're just looking at it," Meyer said. "The guy on the field has the hardest job, and after the shoulder pad hit, it slid up. Was that enough to overturn it? They're evaluating that as well.

It slid up because the TE was dropping like a rock, bending his knee, going fetal.
