Cavs 2010-11 season (official thread)

As a big NBA fan, this is undoubtedly the worst draft class in at least ten years. Fortunately for Cleveland, they get two top four picks, which are tough to mess up. Personally, I would take Williams #1, I'm not too sold on Irving.

this is the biggest key to a successful future for Cleveland. The sooner they forget about LeBron, the better off they are going to be.

Cleveland will never forget about Lebron. But players will have plenty of room to create their own legacy.. any comparisons to Lebron will have Lebron on the negative side of said comparison. The hatred of him is motivation. I don't think it'll be a problem.

even if it's all negative, any player coming through town will probably tire pretty quickly of it. That's why, IMO, the sooner they just move on the better. Playing in shadows never works out. Ask any Bronco or Dolphin QB........

That might be a good reason not to draft Williams #1. Bringing him in to play Lebron's position would draw comparisons that he doesn't need and probably can't live up to. I think the Bulls beating the Heat would do a lot to make Cavs fans less angry at Lebron although he'll always get booed if he doesn't skip out on the announcements in the future.

I don't see it as a shadow though. Lebron accomplished nothing in Cleveland in the grand scheme of things, and he's hated. These new players will have full support. I don't think we'll hear many people saying "he's no Lebron" unless they're talking about Irving not being a dick.

People will have no issues starting a new era. Why would they want to hold on to the past? I still don't think it'll be an issue.

good points....

I definitely understand your side. It's obviously a concern because of the media, but I think most of the pressure will come from the players themselves. These new guys will probably put a lot of pressure on themselves for obvious reasons.

wow. Lebron's group trying to get total control of all top players in the NBA

All the more reason to hope for the upcoming lockout and CBA negotiations to break the backs of the players and set forth conditions where teams in flyover country (besides OKC for now) can be competitive.

This draft lottery was great news, and I'm glad for the Cavs. The truth is, I've never left them - rather, I've left the NBA. I'll truly be back on board when I feel like conditions are such that a team in Cleveland should even bother to exist and compete.
