Cavs 2010-11 season (official thread)

I want Dieb's to go someplace where they have enough around him that all they will need him to do is stand at the 3 pt line and nail open 3's i.e Orlando or unfortunately Miami.

Color me as one who wouldn't mind the Cavs taking him with one of our 2nd round picks. He would fit in perfectly as the only other guy that posts up around the three point line blows ass and has used his sisters name for stardom.

Parker will be gone anyway I just don't know if the Cavs have anyone good enough to get Diebs open. Noted I would have no problem with him playing for the Cavs, but I care more about his career than what I want. I wouldn't mind seeing Lighty with the late second round pick if he is still on the board. He could bring some D and timely shooting from the 2 or 3.

From looking at the mock drafts, appears we would have to use the high second round pick to get Lighty.

I hear you, I just feel he can absolutely thrive in a Byron Scott type offense once the Cavaliers get their PG. Best comparison I could make to the role he would play would be Kyle Korver for the Bulls right now, and IIRC he won a title with the Heat in '05 or '06?

What's the deal with Varajao, Cavs intend on keeping him? He's a high energy guy who seems to inspire the rest of the team. I'm not jumping too far ahead, but I think the Cavs might make some noise depending on how the two first rounders respond to the current offense and how quickly.

For those of you who have not seen Williams play and want him because he's listed as a SF, he has some work to do to play 3 in the NBA. He shot ridiculously this year, but he didn't show great ball-handling skills and didn't go to the post that much. I see him as more of a complimentary player on a good team, he's not a savior. Think David West. If you want David West to be the face of your franchise then pick him #1.

Give me Irving and a hit on one of the other 3 picks and I'll be happy.

Also at our picks this would be overdrafting but I like Motiejunas. Reminds me of Dirk a little bit being 7-foot and can shoot the hell out of the ball.

The best thing about the draft now is the options they have....the Cavs will take Irving #1, it's not even a question. He's the guy they were always targeting.

But to now have the #4 pick, on top of the TPE, they're really going to be able to pursue different avenues.

IMO, I'd like to see them turn that #4, assuming Kanter and Williams are OFF the board, into additional first round picks.

I really like Alec Burks and Chris Singleton. Burks and Singleton are both low risk, high reward players. Burks has a great handle at the 2G position and has a beautiful mid-range game. His first step is very solid. And Singleton is probably the best defender in the draft and extremely versatile with a nice outside shot to boot. Plus Singleton is a 6'10 SF which is a huge plus when guarding stretch 4's or athletic SF's.

But if Kanter or Williams is available at #4 I think you have to pull the trigger. It sounds like Charlotte is willing to package #9 and #19 to get into the top 5. But they have their eyes on Williams so I'm not sure how you'd work that out.

I'm just thrilled to have this much momentum going into the summer....never thought I'd be felling this good about the Cavs so soon after LeBron took his talents to South Beach.

All the mocks now have Irving going to the Cavs. Looks like the worst kept secret in the NBA. I think the Cavs would have to see something they don't like at the combine or individual workouts to go a different way.
A lot of the mocks have the Jazz taking a PG so hopefully they are after the #2 PG and leave Kanter for the Cavs. I'm getting my hopes up that Kanter makes it to #4. He is a little bigger than I first thought and is a legit center in the NBA by most accounts. It would be great to answer the questions at PG and C in this draft and then get the SF next year when the draft looks like it will be full of them.

I'd so love to come away with Chris Singleton somehow....Not saying the guy is anywhere as good as Durant, b/c he isn't, but defensivley the guy is just a beast. I love the idea of a 6'10 SF who can guard the perimeter as well as the paint.

If we could get Irving, Kanter, and come away with another first rounder and address SF, it'd just be insane.

I've seen several mocks where Charlotte takes Singleton at #19 so it'll be interestingto see if Cleveland has any ideas on re-entering the first round assuming the use #1 and #4.

Speaking of Charlotte, heard a rumor on the radio that Charlotte wants to get into the top 5 and they threw out Charlotte trading their #9 & #19 for #4. Of course they dismissed it, but still.

Let's spitball here... let's say the Cavs target Kanter at #4 and for some reason he is gone (rumors are teams that would trade with Minnesota for #2 would pick him) and the Cavs don't like who they would pick at #4, but Charlotte does.

Would the Cavs be interested in a trade down scenerio? Maybe pry a top 3/5 protected pick from Charlotte next year?

Of course doubt that would happen, or the Cavs would be interested. But I just love draft rumors

If Williams and Kanter are gone at 4 I would take the Charlotte deal in a heartbeat. In that case 4 would be a huge pick for a team looking for a PG. I just hope the rumors about Utah wanting a PG are true. For me the absolute best case scenario is Irving 1 and Williams 4 with Kanter being a great second option. After they have a chance to see him workout Kanter might even be the better option.
