Cav gets into fight at a bar
Thursday, October 4, 2007
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Cavaliers guard Shannon Brown said Wednesday he was involved in an altercation with a security guard at a downtown nightclub that started after he was escorted from the bar for wearing a hat.

"I was involved in a situation a couple of days ago where I felt like I was assaulted," Brown said at the team's training facility.

No charges had been filed related to the incident early Sunday at Liquid Cafe in the trendy Warehouse District, said Victor Perez, the city's chief assistant prosecutor. Prosecutors still were interviewing witnesses. Police Lt. Thomas Stacho said no arrests were made.

I think it's hilarious that Jones wants to be traded. Does he actually think that anyone would take him with his salary? If I were Ferry I would tell him that they tried to move him, but there were no takers. If he wants out they will buy him out of his contract for this years salary. If he wants to keep his whole contract shut his mouth and they might be able to move him next year.

LeBron left to wonder why team stays quiet
Sunday, October 7, 2007

Around the NBA's Eastern Conference, active offseasons have several teams feeling good about things.

The Celtics, Bulls, Pistons, Knicks, Magic - and even the Hawks - made moves through trades, the draft or free agency.

So what about the defending Eastern Conference champions?

Well, the Cavaliers still have LeBron James, so that's a big plus.

But with no draft picks, no significant moves until just before the start of camp, and right now minus two key players from a year ago, the Cavaliers look like they again will rely heavily on their superstar.

If he wants out so bad maybe he should start wearing a Yankees hat around town. :roll2:

The bigger question is, how in the hell was he kicked out of a bar in Cleveland for wearing any fucking hat? You mean to tell me that Cleveland, of all cities, has an establishment with such strict dress codes?

I can recall getting kicked out of Long Street for the same shit a couple years back. I even offered to simply take it off or give it to someone up front. Needless to say, I didn't offer to take the security guards out to dinner. Bar security guards have to put up with a lot of shit from drunk guys. But a lot of them are dicks too that are suffering through withdrawal from their glory days in high school.

One of my friends got kicked out of a bar in Dayton for wearing a hat so I imagine the same thing can happen about anywhere. They told him he could stay if he simply took off the hat. When he explained that he needed to keep the hat on because of a medical condition, they decided to be dicks about it and kicked him out. Shannon Brown obviously does not have the same medical condition so I wonder what happened that led to him getting kicked out.

What is this the real life story of Ron White's "being drunk in PUB-LIC"??!?!?

CAVALIERS
Drew's time

Sunday, October 07, 2007 Branson Wright
Plain Dealer Reporter
The absence of Anderson Varejao, who remains out due to contract negotiations, means several Cavaliers will have to step up their games until Varejao returns.
Varejao's absence will mean more time for Drew Gooden. Not only will Gooden have to hold his own at power forward, but he could see even more action as a backup to center Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
Gooden has not played more than 30 minutes per game since his first season with the Cavs in 2004-05. But he says he's ready to step it up.

Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown focuses on his own team

Tuesday, October 09, 2007 Mary Schmitt Boyer

Plain Dealer Reporter
How focused is Mike Brown on preparing his team for the upcoming NBA season?
The Cavaliers coach knows his team will face the Washington Wizards in its preseason opener tonight at Quicken Loans Arena, and he knows the Cavs will play the Orlando Magic twice in China next week. Other than that, the rest of the exhibition schedule is a blur.
"I couldn't tell you who we play," he admitted after a four-hour practice Monday.

CAVALIERS PRESEASON
Cleveland Cavaliers lose to Washington Wizards

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 Branson Wright
Plain Dealer Reporter
There were the handwritten signs.
"LeBron, How 'bout them Yankees" and "LeBron, Did You Witness That Game Last Night?"
Three days before the American League Championship Series between the Indians and the Boston Red Sox begins, LeBron James -- New York Yankees fan -- was announced to the crowd at The Q before the Cavaliers' preseason opener Tuesday against the Washington Wizards.
Cheers filled the arena.
There was not much to cheer about thereafter as the Cavs were horrible offensively, and that led to an 81-62 defeat to the Wizards.
James was 1-for-5 with three points and three turnovers in 15 minutes. The Cavs shot 30.6 percent from the field for the game and gave up 29 points in the second quarter. Daniel "Boobie" Gibson led the Cavs with 13 points.
