There isn't a GM out there who would take that contract along with that player... except for Ferry.OH10;893150; said:If the Cavs could pawn off Larry Hughes to someone, it would make life a lot easier. If they can't, I have difficulty foreseeing them as NBA Champions anytime soon.
I also don't see them making a run like they did this year unless they get a PG sometime during the season. Z also scares me with his age.Cavs will prob be a 3-4 seed next year and try and turn the light switch on down the stretch....i doubt booby lives up to the hype next year, i like sasha but je isn't a legit 2, and z keeps getting older
and we have a talented young core of Lebron, Gooden, Varejao, Sasha, Gibson, and Brown.
O Nasty;893376; said:Gooden-Not consistent on the offensive side...Has no defense at all
His inconsistency drives me crazy. When h's on, his offensive game can be very good. I saw a big improvement in his defense this postseason. He's the teams most tradeable asset (excluding lbj)
Varejo-Offensive side of the ball is very weak
His defense more than makes up for that. He's pretty good on the pnr with LBJ. He's a monster on the offensive boards
Sasha-Sashas up in the air, Has good offense...But as of now he's iffy...Defensive side is weak, That's why we are jus now starting to see him on the court
Not a big fan of his.
Gibson-We see what he's capable of doing, Needs to work on the more finer things of being a PG...Next we'll see what he's made of starting a 82 game season.
Shannon-Has a whoole lot of potential...Hopefully we can see him on the court during the season...And see where he stands...
I've yet to watch Brown and say to myself "He's goinbg to be good. He's shown nothing, even in summer league.
Everybody else is pretty much dead weight
Cleveland Cavaliers quiet in off-season
Thursday, August 02, 2007 Jodie Valade
Plain Dealer Reporter
All has been quiet on the Cavaliers' front this off-season, even as free-agent movement and blockbuster trades take place across the league. The lack of noise doesn't mean the reigning Eastern Conference champions have been inactive in this off-season, though.
The Cavaliers were one of a handful of teams that tried to get in on the Kevin Garnett Sweepstakes, an NBA source said, even in the hours before Minnesota finalized the mega-deal that sent Garnett to Boston.
Cleveland, Chicago, Dallas and the Los Angeles Lakers all tried to wedge into the trade with serious offers, the source said, but no team could compete with the Celtics' offer that included potential in Al Jefferson, salary-cap relief in Theo Ratliff's expiring contract and a possible lottery draft pick.

Schedule difficult at start of season
Six-game Western trip comes early in November
By Brian Windhorst Beacon Journal sportswriter

The Cavaliers have been one of the best home teams in the NBA during the past three years, winning 91 games at Quicken Loans Arena.
That is an advantage, though, that they'll have to do without for much of the early part of the upcoming season. The 2007-08 regular-season schedule, which the NBA released Thursday, revealed a brutal start. The Cavs will play 10 road games in November alone, including a six-game Western swing starting less than a week into the season. It starts a stretch when the Cavs will play 13 out of 19 games away. Four of the Cavs' first five games are against Western Conference playoff teams from last season.

Cavs take good look at Hudson
Ex-Minnesota player is part of a quiet but active summer for brass

It might not be popular to fans dying for action in a summer of blockbuster trades, but the Cavaliers are staying the course and taking a conservative approach.
With two months until the start of training camp, the Cavs will continue to be methodical when it comes to making roster moves. That does not mean Cavs General Manager Danny Ferry hasn't been active. The Cavs have explored numerous options, but like most teams that made the playoffs last season, they have been quiet.
Here is an update of the goings-on:
There are no serious discussions with restricted free agents Anderson Varejao or Sasha Pavlovic. The sides have exchanged proposals and are waiting for the unpredictable late-summer market to develop. The Cavs, who control the rights to both players, are not in any hurry to make a deal.
After getting close to a trade with the Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs that would've landed Mike Bibby last month, the sides have stopped serious discussions.

Cavs interested in retired guard Allan Houston
Out of NBA with injury for two years, ex-Knick plans comeback at 36
By Brian Windhorst Beacon Journal sportswriter
Published on Sunday, Aug 12, 2007
Despite their rise to the ranks of the NBA elite, the Cavaliers have yet to cash in on the market for aging stars looking for a shot at a championship.
That might not change anytime soon, but they are in the game. Team sources said the Cavs have interest in former New York Knicks star Allan Houston, who is planning a comeback two years after being forced to retire because of knee problems. Houston, 36, was one of the best shooting guards in the game in his prime. He told ESPN.com last week that his knee is feeling better and he hopes to play this season.
