Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

If the Cavs play one ounce of defense, they blow Memphis out.

That's all I'm saying.

Not to divert the thread, but the league is just full of laziness/poor play.

How many ridiculous turnovers did the Cavs commit tonight? I turned the game off after LeBron took Mike Conley for granted and threw an unbelieveably lazy pass accross the court. Someone will probably pull Mike off to the side at some point and let him know that's not the way they play in the NBA for the first 82 games of the year.

I did love watching Mike play because of the passion and speed he plays at. It was cool to see him blowing by NBA players for tear drops and assist opportunities.

Anyways, the laziness and "soft" play in the NBA regular season is the reason Kosta Koufas will be a great player in the league, and the reason why big "Z" is such a great regular season player and poor playoff player.

Not to mention, especially in Cavs games, the winner is less about the team that plays better, and more about who can make more terrible shots. Congrats on the win tonight, but who knows how we shoot 28 foot turn-arounds and 20 3 pointers the next time we face Indiana, Minnesota, or Memphis.

I used to hate Detroit and their style, but the more I see the more I enjoy them, just because they consistently play hard and bring it every night. It's very respectable, even if you hate their personal.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- LeBron James scored a season-high 51 points, including 25 in the fourth quarter and overtime, to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 132-124 win over the Memphis Grizzlies last night.

It was the fourth time the league's leading scorer has reached 50 points in his career.
"When we win, it means a lot. Every point counted tonight," said James, who is averaging 29.8 points. "I've lost a couple of games scoring 50 points, and I didn't like it too much. To have that accomplishment, and win the ballgame, means a lot."

just an opinion on the 2008 draft......I'd love to see the Cavs take Isiah Swann in the second round. I doubt he goes first round, maybe not even second.

Kid is ridiculously athletic, has a very nice stroke, and a great handle. I think he'd be a steal.

I don't even bother looking at the statline anymore. I'm just glad he only took 8 shots.

Ditto. At first I'd see it and there would be anger. Then I would literally just laugh at it. Now, it's just sad. I don't even bother looking because I know it's gonna be somewhere between 10-30% from the field. The Cavs should be able to recoup some of that money for what an utter piece of shit he's turned out to be. I can't remember when I've had so much contempt for a player on a team I root for.

I know some have been ready to give up on the Cavs, but tonight showed that when they really come to play, they are a very good game, and the run last year is only going to help them in games like this...Last year early and before they would of folded in games like this especially after having an 11 pt lead and then squandering the lead late in the game...

LBJ is really turning into a great leader and is taking this team on his back, even with not having a huge scoring game, he is making his presence much more known on the defensive end with his huge block shots, and his charges that he has started taking...

Andy has taken his game to another level, and to with Drew and Z we have 3 very solid big guys...

Hughes is what he is, he gave great defense tonight against Parker, and then gave way to Boobie down the stretch...Took shots with in the game, and made some and missed some...

Boobie is a great shooter and is great in the clutch...Always seems to make the big shot when it is passed to him...

Also DJ has made some big shots as of late...

Seems like we have the Momentum on our side right now...Not sure of our upcoming schedule without looking, but I think with the way we are playing we could put together 10 straight or so...

They're definately playing better, but still aren't a team that can compete for a title. That is a little disconcerting when you realize LBJ is in his 5th year and they still don't have a capable supporting cast around him to get to that next level. Z is old, Gooden's a head case, then you have a bunch of overpayed stiffs and spare parts. If I could dismantle this roster, the only players I'd keep would be LBJ, Boobie, Wild Thing and probably Z. Imagine if they could get more than 3-11 from Hughes and Pavlobrick...

Honestly I have stayed away from this thread lately, because there has been so much negativity in it...

I am just going to try and throw some optimism in it...

We have the best player in the league IMO in James...He really has improved his game, the thing that hurt us this year was when he went down for 6 games and of course Sasha and Andy holding out...But LBJ has a much better jumper this year, he has Boobie on the outside knocking down the open jumpers...He can keep us in any game...

But with that said, we have beat Boston and SA and while I know these are regular season games, we have much more confidence in those types of situations this year, and yes we have had struggles, and yes Larry and Sasha have had their struggles, but I am not ready to tear this team down...

Maybe I am just an optimistic person, but We don't have to play in the West in the playoffs, and I think we can go toe to toe with anyone in the East again and then unlike last year I think we would be more prepared for the finals this year unlike last year...

With that in mind I am not saying that we are going to make it back to the finals, but I am saying there is no reason to blow this team up...Just let them continue to play together because the longer you have a core of players stay together I think it is much better for your team, then when the contracts go off the books, then try and make the big splash in terms of getting that second guy that LBJ needs, but honestly by then we might see Andy have his game developed into a better player, and Boobie taking on even more of a role...

We have a deep team, a great front line and if we can get some solid play out of Sasha, Larry, Boobie, DJ, Devin, etc come playoff time I think we will be on the right path...

yeah....I think the 2008 draft may be the most important in Cavs history. If they could snag a legit scorer to compliment LeBron or a PG who can distribute the ball (Ty Lawson) it'd be huge.

this team does need blown up, and it will become apparent as this season rolls on.

lbj is the best player in the nba hands down.
z is getting older, slower, and softer. he had a nice game last night, but he'll fade down the stretch.

gooden may be functionally retarded. i've never seen someone with so much talent play such stupid basketball.

gibson can shoot, which is good because his defense is poor.

to say hughes and sasha have had their struggles is like saying jared from subway lost a few pounds. no matter how much you sugarcoat sh*t, it's still sh*t. and those two are two heaping piles of it.

this team has reached it's ceiling with the current roster and coaching staff. their offensive gameplan is inept, and their talent marginal. cleveland is lucky to have the best player in the nba to keep them out of the lottery.
