Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

15 minutes and NO points
24 minutes and TWO points

sure glad we signed these two restricteds

Pavlovic sucks.

Varejao is one of the few guys on the team that earns his
money. At least when he averages 7.5 points a game, it only takes him 6
shots, unlike the other turds. Even when he scores 2 points, the
sob is ALWAYS busting his ass.

Looks like Andy's out tonight and Simmons is back from the D-League. I look for him to get the minutes while Andy is out. Simmons has more athleticism than all the other big men combined (Not that that makes him a better bball player).

I like his potential. If he gets some boards, blocks some shots and plays decent defense, I'd be happy.

Anyone notice that St. Louis only scored 20 points last night in NCAA hoops? They shot like 14% from the field. The best think about it was you know who was a Billiken. Our favorite bad shooter, Larry Hughes. He would have fit right in there last night.

If Simmons can do that the Cavs would have 4 legit bigs.

Team grants Shannon Brown's request for D-League stint

by Branson Wright Friday January 11, 2008, 7:40 AM

Guard Shannon Brown became the second Cavaliers player in eight days to leave for the National Basketball Development League (NBDL). Brown leaves today to join Rio Grande Valley, the Cavs' D-League affiliate. Cedric Simmons was assigned to Rio Grande Valley on Jan. 2 and played three games before the Cavs recalled him Thursday. Simmons was sent to the Vipers to get some needed playing time after spending most of this season trying to recover from an ankle sprain that has bothered him since the summer.
Simmons played 28.7 minutes per game for the Vipers, averaging 9.3 points and 5.3 rebounds.
The difference in Brown's assignment is that he requested the move. Brown has played in only 12 games this season and, at times, has had some good moments.

CAVALIERS INSIDER
Cleveland Cavaliers' Gooden betting on beard

Thursday, January 10, 2008 Branson Wright

Plain Dealer Reporter
Atlanta -- Last year, it was the duck tail. This year Drew Gooden is the NBA's version of Blackbeard. Gooden has grown a beard as part of a bet with Washington Wizards guard DeShawn Stevenson.
Whoever shaves his beard first loses the bet.
Meanwhile, several other celebrities have caught on to the beard-growing fad. Talk show hosts Jimmy Kimmel and David Letterman have grown beards in protest of the writer's strike. Letterman shaved his beard Monday.

I have not had time to really watch all the Cavs games this season, but what I will say is that I really feel that the management from the coach on up have fucked up Brown's potential and have not done a good job at all meshing the guys this year...

We have a talented team and the best player in the league, and we should be better than what we have shown...But I still feel that the playoff run last year gives us confidence and maturity when the games start to get tougher and start to mean a little more...

shannon brown's problem is that lump residing about 3 feet above his ass. it was captured for all to see on national tv when eric snow was trying to teach him stuff based on what was happening on the floor and he was staring off into the stands, to the point that mike fratello even got pissed. if anyone has submarined shannon brown's potential, it is himself.

The same kid that has asked to go play in the NBADL to get better and showcase his talent...He has potential and the Cavs has killed some of that due to their handling of him, which has been very poor...

I will say that Shannon has had trouble due to the fact of not playing and not being used to that, but from most reports that have ever come out of practice, is that most are surprised that he doesnt play more, and with what he has shown this year, I feel they have mishandled him...If they would of had him ready to go, they could of let Sasha walk in the offseason, because they would of had him ready...He is also younger and cheaper...

and when he has gotten extensive playing time, he has done nothing but show quick glimpses of talent followed by prolonged stretches of retardism. the bottom line is brown had every opportunity to absorb what he was being taught and make a contribution, but he didn't do it. he wants to go to the D league so he can try to score 25 a night and not worry about playing team ball or defense, which is why he sits as it is.

NBA roundup: Cavs win as James takes control in 2nd OT

Saturday, January 12, 2008 3:02 AM

Associated Press

LeBron James scored eight of his 31 points in the second overtime and finished with a career-high 19 rebounds to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 113-106 win over the Charlotte Bobcats last night in Cleveland.
James made a 30-footer to give Cleveland a 103-102 lead early in the second overtime. He followed with a free throw and a jumper before a three-pointer from the corner by Damon Jones gave Cleveland a 109-102 lead with 1:27 left, putting the game away.

Brown's play off bench spurring Cavs

Monday, January 14, 2008 3:06 AM

ASSOCIATED PRESS

CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers coach Mike Brown likes to rib his players -- especially Devin Brown -- but he knows the value of the player who is one of his keys off the bench.
Devin Brown, no relation to the coach, has come in for his share of good-natured insults.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound guard was throwing down dunks last week in a victory over the Seattle SuperSonics and his coach couldn't help commenting.
