Cavs 06-07 season thread

I will once again continue my larry hughes is garbage crusade.

another stellar shooting performance to the tune of 6-17 from the field and 0-1 from the line.

that brings his last 3 games totals up to 21-61 fg, and 4-9 ft. astounding.

if he wasn't making $13 million a season, he'd be panhandling on Euclid Ave.

CLEVELAND ? It is no secret that a majority of the power teams reside in the Western Conference, but you cannot tell that to the Cleveland Cavaliers. There is something about Western Conference teams that usually brings out the best in the Cavaliers, and yesterday they continued their mastery at home over the NBA?s stronger conference with a 97-89 victory over the New Orleans Hornets.

If Larry is such a liability, why is Brown giving him the most minutes?

I understand he is struggling from the floor, but he has been attacking lately and if his jumpers start to fall then we could be very hard to defend...

He had a pretty good line last nite 11,8,5,2,2...That is pts,reb,asst,st,bs...

I still don't know why I didnt get the game last nite...:(

I wouldn't have a problem with Hughes if he wouldn't shoot anything outside of 2 feet in the 4th quarter. It seems to me that most of his misses come at the end of the game. He puts up way too many jumpers for a guy who isn't shooting very well, but that goes for Lebron most of the time as well. Hughes is probably best bringing the ball up with Lebron and Gibson/Pavlovic to pass it to. I would much rather that than have Lebron drive and kick to Larry.
Any movement in the offense seems to die in the 4th quarter of most of the games. If the Cavs are going to turn the corner this season they are going to have to figure out how to close out games.

BTW you didn't get the game last night because I was at the Auto Show and couldn't watch the game so no one else was allowed to watch it either. :p

I agree on the whole 4th quarter offense, but I also hate how Brown leaves LBJ out for the first 5 minutes or so and always lets teams come back. Why not give him the break with about 2 minutes left in the 3rd let the team slow it down a little and not let the team make a run, end the quarter and then bring him back with about 10 minutes to go...We are losing rhythm with him on the bench at that time...

As for Hughes, I don't think he is that bad of shooter...He just isnt knocking them down for whatever reason...

If thats the case you better make sure you stay away from autoshows the rest of the season...

you answered your own question. hughes is far better defensively than jones, gibson or pavlovic, although sasha has been getting better.

hughes attacking more yields no additional benefits as he finishes like a pussy. when he does get fouled, he can't make free throws anyway.

if cleveland had a 2 guard that was consistent defensively in any way, hughes would see a major cut in minutes.

But we have Shannon Brown on the bench that doesnt get any minutes at all...You can't tell me he isnt that good on defense...It is his offense that has not caught up to the NBA game yet...

I will agree that he needs to shoot better and make more free throws, but I think you could say that about LBJ as well...

Either way if they could find a stroke form the field and line we would take off as a team and not look back...

If Larry could just make 2-3 more of his shots a game and him and LBJ would make about 2 or 3 more foul shots each then that would give us about 8 or more points a game and that could really help us...

It isnt like they havent shot better b4 and it is just weird that they seem to not be able to find the bucket on jumpers and foul shots...

he looked absolutely lost on both sides of the ball in his limited PT, both pre and post injury.

bottom line is that hughes is a liability until he proves otherwise.

I really think tonite showed why we need Larry...I know we should of won the game and had 10 million chances and no excuses why we lost the game, but the thing is down the stretch when Dallas starting sending two guys at LBJ b/c we had Snow on the court, but it was either give up some offense or defense where Gibson was struggling on the defensive end...

If we have Hughes we could go with the lineup of Hughes, Pavs, and LBJ in the backcourt and we could have offense and defense...

BTW Hawg he had the flu...

Also LBJ needs to get a killer instinct and until he does he won't bring a championship to Cleveland...

I watched parts of the 1st half and the 3rd quarter, and decided not to watch the rest. It's just the same old crap. I've never seen a team settle for so many dumbass shots, or stand around and run the shot clock down forcing themselves into a dumbass shot. That, and somehow their passing has become even worse than their shot selection and free throw shooting. But hey, at least the DEFENSE is improved. :roll2:
