Cavs 06-07 season thread

I stayed up until 1am to watch that? I guess I didn't get enough of seeing my teams get beatdown, after the Raiders(2-14), A's (swept by the Tigers), and the Bucks in the NC game. I must be a glutton.

Larry Hughes couldn't hit a G-spot with an elephant dick! 3-13 shootin again, making him 25-75 his last 5 games. He was 0-5 from inside the layup circle. I guess he'll have to find another excuse since he can't blame the ball anymore.

My only other complaint is that while LeBron had a good game, how the heck does he only get to the stripe once?

Hats off to the Suns, though. They shot lights out. Nash didn't shoot well, but made up for that with 21 dimes including some very nice passes.

The Clips will be a test, too, but I'm confident they'll shoot better than 38% while the Clips are no where near 48% like the Suns.

Boiling Brown gets Cavs cooking

Coach shows emotion, team responds with better defensive effort

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

PHOENIX - Of all the adjectives that could be used to describe Mike Brown, fiery isn't one of them.
But his stoic image might be changing. The Cavaliers coach hasn't been afraid to show some emotion to his team recently, with positive results. Twice in the past week Brown has gotten visibly heated during a timeout and the Cavs have instantly responded, especially on defense.

Sizzling Suns run, Cavaliers stunned

Five-game winning streak ends as Nash dishes out 21 assists

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

Henry Hill, the hard-nosed mobster from the epic Goodfellas, surmised ``Everybody has to take a beating some time.''
The Cavaliers' time was Thursday night, and it was thorough. It happens quite often within the US Airways Center and usually just about anywhere else the Phoenix Suns play these days.

Suns spot Cavs' weaknesses

Defensive tactics expose offensive woes. Ilgauskas, Gooden neutralized, leaving LeBron on his own

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIF. - LeBron James made 15 shots on Thursday night. None of them were assisted.
A day after giving up 109 points, prudence would dictate a team dedicated to defense like the Cavaliers would be concerned with their efforts on that side of the floor.
But as the Cavs regrouped from their worst loss of the season Friday after moving to the next stop of the Great Western Tour of '07, there were more thoughts about offense.

WTF is wrong with Larry Hughes now? Can he go a whole month without missing a game?? Regardless, nice to see the Cavs regrouping well tonight and appearing to get a victory on the road against a playoff team like the Clips.

They said tendinitis in his quad...

I still don't understand Brown's rotation and don't think I ever will.

Last time Hughes was out Gibson started and we played good. Now he has Sasha starting who he hasnt even played in the last month, and Gibby plays about 3 minutes. Also Shannon Brown isnt seeing any time at all.

Overall it was a great team effort tonite as LBJ, Snow, Gooden, Z, Sasha, and DJ all played great.

Great win. Good to see LeBron go 8-8 from the line. Seattle up next, and all of these next five games look to be very winnable. I said I'd be happy with 4-3 on this west coast swing, hopefully we can do even better than that.

I think the reasoning was that Hughes won't be out very long so he will replace Hughes with Pav and keep the rest of the rotation the same. I would have liked to see Gibson play a little more, but you can't argue with the result.
If he isn't going to play Shannon Brown at all it seems like it would be good to send him down to the D league every other week or so to keep his game up.

Snow flies in Staples, Cavaliers win

Veteran guard picks up slack for injured Hughes, leads victory over Clippers

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

LOS ANGELES - There was quite a cocktail of bad karma flowing in the Cavaliers' direction Saturday night.
They were without key playmaker Larry Hughes, which has been a precursor to mediocre play, and doing it inside the Staples Center, where they hadn't won in the LeBron James era.
It probably didn't make them a favorite in Las Vegas, but it certainly seemed to provide nothing but motivation in Los Angeles.
The Cavs delivered a focused and workmanlike effort and earned themselves a 104-92 victory over the L.A. Clippers

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

LOS ANGELES - Dating back to his college days at Oregon, Luke Jackson has always played well in the Staples Center. Now, he's hoping it will become a home.
Jackson is sporting his fourth different uniform this season, still enveloped in a whirlwind that started on Oct. 13 when the Cavaliers traded him to the Boston Celtics.

Sunday, January 14, 2007 Branson Wright

Plain Dealer Reporter
Los Angeles- There is not much of a mystery on which players will participate in next month's NBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas.
Players such as the Cavs' LeBron James, the Lakers' Kobe Bryant and Miami's Dwyane Wade are locks as All-Star selections. However, when it comes to the Sophomore/Rookie game played during All-Star Weekend, that's another matter.

Maggette Available?
Jan 15 - An NBA source said the Clippers are being "very patient" in their quest to trade swingman Corey Maggette. It's not known whether the Cavaliers are in the running for his services, but it's likely that they are.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pounder had a team-high 22 points against the Cavaliers on Saturday. --
