The lineup of Gibson, LBJ, Varejo, Gooden and Marshall is by far the most productive lineup the Cavs can put out there right now. I love the way Gibson has come on as of late and Varejo just pisses the other teams off when he is in there. Z is too damn slow and I don't know what Hughes is thinking lately but right now he just sucks.
I agree with your lineup selection, but the Cavs have situational lineups in this case.
Offense - LBJ, Gibson, Damon Jones, Z, and Gooden. This gives us our best perimeter shooters (Damon and Gibson), our spot-up guys (Z and Gooden) and LeBron to put it all out.
Big Lineup - LBJ, Donyell, Sasha, Z, and Gooden. All over 6'8" (or around that much). Has a shooter in Donyell, Sasha's gotten better at driving.
Small Lineup - LBJ, E. Snow, Jones/Gibson, Hughes, Varejao. This is definitely more of a defensive lineup, but is fast and high-energy.
By mixing and matching these three lineups, you can get good results. I want Brown to use more of the bench and try to get these matchups- Damon Jones can hit a spot-on three for a specific play and not do too much damage when he's out there for a few minutes (think Ivan Harris a few years ago). Donyell can rebound. Yes, Pollard, Newble, Wesley, and Brown are useless.
That- and actually move the ball around more. It's a 24-second shot clock, and you need to pass the ball at least twice. That means that you shouldn't hold it for more then 5 seconds without passing or taking a shot if it's open. Risk the turnovers to get more ball movement and more quality shots, because the percentage of turnovers will be lower then forced, bad shots.
Exception to that rule is LeBron- he can do whatever he wants. Man, that was awesome.
