Cam Newton (QB New England Patriots)

Cam Newton is horrible, reminds me of Jamarcus Russel. I'm glad I'm not a Carolina fan. To be fair to him, Peyton Manning would probably be pretty ineffective in that offense. I'm sure Cam can improve, but I mean...it's pretty hard to go down from a 44 QB rating. Unfortunately Carolina is stuck with Newton, and they can't put in Clausen even if he's slightly more productive because Newton has a better chance of extending a play with his feet. Carolina needs to settle on the QB and develop him.

The whole Newton scenario reminds me of Cleveland the last...oh...10 years. So many QBs have come through, top picks and experienced veterans alike. Very few QBs can come out of college and be productive, no matter how good they were before the NFL. The ones that do well early are usually QBs that played against good defenses in college, or they're put in a great position with a decent offensive line and playmakers. Carolina probably would have been better off bringing in the veteran, spending the first round pick on a lineman, and building for the future.

My goodness folks... if you looked at this thread you would think Cam would've been stinking it up on the field for years in the NFL.

He's played in 3 pre-season games. Let's wait until he completes a season, shit a couple of seasons, before we call him a bust and label him as another Jamarcus Russell.

Our offensive line is one of the best in the game when healthy. Gross, Kalil, and Otah are all some of the best in the game at their respective positions, and Travelle Wharton isn't too shabby at guard either, and neither is Brodeau. When healthy, is the key word with them.

You don't see many teams give first round QBs time to develop these days. I don't think Cam is Jamarcus Russel, but there are some similarities. First round pick from an SEC school, relies on some big time athletic talent, expected to be an NFL QB and great from the start. I think Cam is better in comparison because he understands the game a little more, but he's in a tough position here.

I really hope he doesn't start from day 1. Not good for his development IMO, but if our offensive line stays healthy hopefully they can wean him into things with our ground attack.

Clausen hasn't done ANYTHING to make me think he gives Carolina any better of a chance at winning than Cam does. May as well stick with Cam.

Clausen: 17/29 (59% completion percentage)
Cam: 21/52 (40% completion percentage)

Take off your anti-Notre Dame glasses and try to keep up. You really think a 40% completion percentage is going to get it done in the NFL?.

While I agree logically with your post, I just can't get with the notion of taking off the anti-ND glasses. I can't stand that Pickle QB.

You should really be pissed at the Panthers front office. He's shitty QB, and a horrible choice for your franchise QB. Deal with it, bro.
