With the added dimension of yards rushing that he gives them, ability to scramble behind a [Mark May]ty offensive line, and the fact they drafted him to be their starting QB, then yeah, I say you look past 3 meaningless pre season games and keep going with him. You also can't look past this being Clausen's second year as a pro, with actual NFL starts under his belt, running around out there like a chicken with his head cut off. And if we're splitting hairs. Clausen has more turnovers on less passing attempts too.

I'm not sure how you justify claiming that Clausen is "running around out there like a chicken with his head cut off" to support your argument, but let's just say Cam hasn't exactly looked like the model QB thus far in the pocket. That point aside, I'd rather look at the stats, which support Clausen.
Clausen has exactly one more INT than Cam. Congrats. Of course, you failed to mention that Clausen has more TDs than Cam too.
Forget it--the fact that you're even attempting to make an argument that a guy with a 40% completion percentage should be a starting QB in the NFL pretty much tells me all I need to know.

they actually both have 1 touchdown. That's the dynamic Cam adds. His ability on his feet. Does it matter if the TD comes in the air or on the ground?
I justify it by watching the game. Clausen is timid, more timid than a second year pro should be with multiple starts under his belt at the NFL level.
Carolina is not a playoff team this year. You roll the dice on a number one overall pick, you put him out there if there isn't an above average guy who is distancing himself in front of him. If you can honestly look at Jimmy Clausen and say he's head and shoulders above Cam Newton and has done much more in these three games to garner putting him out there in front of Cam, then that's your opinion. Mine is different. Big deal.
