Cam Newton (QB New England Patriots)

Newton looking much better than I expected so far. He's handled the blitz really well.

9/13 198 yards 2 TD in the first half, although he did throw a pick but it was negated by a roughing the passer. He's looked much sharper throwing the ball than i expected.

One of the worst roughing the passer calls ever seen to man BTW....It's so hard to watch the NFL when players are flagged every time they touch a QB. That was a game changing call...they might as well roll dice to see who wins games.

It was an awful call.

Still though, Arizona has no excuse for not being out in front. Beanie fumbled at like the 5 yard line and they also missed a FG in the redzone.

Thats all true, but it's just like Hines Ward said. The NFL is dictating games based on awful rules and rules interpretations. Another scoring opportunity for Arizona turned into a TD by Carolina based on an awful call that is used to stop layers from hitting the QB.

The NFL is a joke. I wish I could stop watching but I have nothing better to do. But you can't say the better team wins or loses anymore. It's whatever team gets luckier with the insane rules put forth by the NFL brain-trust.

Newton breaks Peyton Manning's record for passing yards by a rookie in week one. He also has 2 TD passes and a TD run. He has thrown 1 INT, too.

Pretty good debut.

Aside from Patrick Peterson, who else is on the Cardinals D?

... Adrian Wilson. My bad. That's all I got.

Darnell Docket and Kerry Rhodes are also not slouches.

The defense isn't great (probably middle of the road), but what Cam did is still pretty impressive.

I don't care who's playing defense, throwing for 422 yards in your NFL debut is fantastic. It's one game, but still, give credit where credit is due. No rookie QB has ever thrown for over 400 yards in his debut, and he tied the single game passing yardage record for a rookie QB.

If you put TP in this exact same situation, his thread would be exploding right now and people would be heaping praise after praise on him and talking about how all of his critics were wrong.

I know this is an Ohio State board, and Cam ain't exactly real popular around here, but come on now. You don't have to worship him, and you don't have to say he's gonna be a great one, but give him some credit for a fantastic debut.

Newton was great on first reads. When his first read isn't available, he is a huge liability. I think that will come with experience, but his first read was there almost all day.

But that's also what happens when Arizona blitzes the hell out of him all day, and leave TE's uncovered.

I'm reserve judgment until Cam plays a competent organization...

One game. We'll see. Even Grossman looked good today and McNabb stunk on ice.

We got the Refs together and paid them for SEC qbs do good. week. Everybody wanted to exclude Culter, because he's an ass, but we went ahead anyway. Tebow is all excited, but they haven't told him he's not playing yet.
