It took me so long to read the thread that I don't have much time to respond (which is actually probably fortunate). All I would add is that we who actually care about BP should try to ensure that this care is reflected in what we post. Things will slip through our personal filters, but just make sure that they are turned on and that should solve much of the problem. I would absolutely retain the right to fire off a "cnut of the highest order" post when I think it's necessary, but those situations are very far between. Act like you've been there before and will be back again. This works on the field and should go just as well here. This is our community. It's up to us not to let it slip.

If you got dinged, it may well have been the fact that you acknowledged that we didn't want to single anyone out and then went ahead and did so all in a single sentence. :wink:

It's a discussion about the site and the community around it, not who we have each have personal issues with.

For the mods, what about a "secret" forum that shows up for members only similar to the Rumor Mill? Should a newbie need warned or someone gets out of hand, the mods will have a central location they can visit to see what action (if any) has been taken against said "perpetrator." This would avoid (for the most part) any repetitive pms to users and/or newbies. In any facet, I believe communication is key. This would prevent newbies or users from feeling overwhelmed as someone mentioned earlier.
Second, why not have a "Big Brother" program for "flagged" newbies. Meaning, a TG05 comes in and posts 100 posts in 7 days. Thump could be assigned as his Big Brother (by volunteer only) to help him out; to act as a guide and resource. Just an idea.

You may or may not be surprised to discover that people who have been around BP since before you were a teen have a relatively good grasp on the dynamics of the site.

I don't mind you at all, tg05, and I tend to believe you should get a little extra leeway because of the regular spankings you draw down on yourself around here -- particularly because of your age. But sometimes it's better to watch and listen than oversell a point that doesn't need to be made.
