Brady Quinn (Fox CFB Analyst)

I'm amazed how quick you all are to blame Brady and not his douche bag agent. Somehow Brady does not strike me as a "Show me the money!" kind of guy. It will be interesting if at some point Brady tells his agent to stop being a douche and just get a deal done so he can get on the field. BTW, does anyone know if the picks around him have already signed?
Quinn played under Charlie Weis, the coach that said something to the effect that one of his superbowl rings are worth more than all of JT's championship rings. Quinn once said, and I quote, "It is good for college football when the Notre Dame QB plays well" If these comments don't scream douchebag and arrogance, I don't know what will.

It is not total BS. When he signs it will be for what he thinks he is worth at the time, and really you can't blame him. Once again he owns the Browns nothing.
And the fans dont owe brady shit. Bradys not going to do so well with the browns fan base.. this is redic.. if the browns are offering him more money than any previous #22 pick ("easily" as the article says) he needs to take it and work hard. He's holding out for top 10 money, and regaurdless of what side of the fence you're on Brady was NOT a top 10, 15, or 20 player.. now if he comes out and wow's everybody sure, give him the money.. but it looks like DA is going to be the starter.. not Quinn.

1st round signings so far

LINK

Oh, Christ...

He's not gonna sign for a while....

And.. its not a big deal either...

And... I'm not sure why everyone is getting pissed about what he's asking for... these are negotiations... you can ask for whatever you want... you can ask for a dozen Krispy Kremes and a gold plated crepe pan if you want... whatever... hopefully the Losman plus inflation contract will work out... but... I guarantee Condon (or whoever the fuck his agent is) won't let him sign until someone pretty near him signs... god forbid that he somehow gets less than the 23rd... not like he's holding out or something.... but... seems like about 30 other first rounders are all in the same boat. At least his agent was actually in town..

Ding ding ding we have a winner.

And I love how people are calling this a hold out....it's not a holdout till trraining camp begins.

A. The first comment was by his coach and not him. I don't think it is fair to judge his personality on his coach (and a coach that he did not choose to play for nonetheless).

B. I don't see a problem with is other comment. If anything, he deflected whatever question he was asked and spoke about the ND QB as a generic figure. It is good when that happens with ND being one of the marqee college football programs. It's good for college football when the QBs from tOSU, USC, Texas, Auburn, scUM, etc. play well because it generates excitement for the sport. I'd agree he was an arrogant prick if he said that "It's good for college football when Brady Quinn plays well." I was no fan of Quinn when he was at ND, but he is soon to be a Brownie and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. So far, he seems to be handling every thing (including his slipping in the draft) with class.

Thanks to Lazlo for posting the link to the signings. The top guys always sign first and then contracts generally work down through the draft order. I don't think you'll see anything with Quinn until they get an idea of how some of the other slots turn out. It's his agent's job to ask for the moon, the sun, the stars... still very early in the process.

And who does his agent ultimately work report to?

The agent's accountant...

Agents get a set percentage of player's salaries IIRC, so even if a player wants to sign, it's in the agent's best interests to hold that player out for more money, because his agent's fee is non-negotiable.

yes maybe, but mili's point is still valid because at the end of the day the agent works for the client, not the other way around.

That's why I posted that it will be interesting to see if Brady steps up at some point and tells Condon to just get it done so he can get into camp. Not to mention that Savage put the Browns in a tighter spot by publically stating how high they had him rated and that the would have taken him higher if they could have worked another deal. Anyways, I just think there is a lot of confirmation bias going on in this thread. People tend to believe that Quinn is an arrogant prick because he was the QB for Notre Dame and not because he has done anything in particular to demonstrate that he's an arrogant prick. Would we even be having this conversation if the kid had played for Oregon?

On a side note, having an arrogant prick as a QB isn't always a bad thing. Some arrogant prick named Elway refused to play for the Colts. I'd take that arrogant prick any day. My dad got to know Lou Groza's kid pretty well through his job. He played in an all-star type game with Kosar. He said after a play, Kosar came back to the huddle and some wide receiver started mouthing off about being open. Kosar said, "F- you n-word, I'll tell you when you're open." That's being an arrogant prick, and Bernie is still my favorite Cleveland QB.

Glad that someone got my point. No one can deflect all blame from Quinn...he has the ability to snatch his agent by the short hairs and tell him, "Get me a signable deal...now!"

An Agent is hired to get the best possible deal for their client. He wouldn't (and won't) "snatch his agent by the short hairs and tell him, "Get me a signable deal...now" until it's approaching the last minute. Especially for his first contract. And they aren't even close to being there yet. I don't think there will be a long holdout, but you never know.

And to add to that, no ROOKIE is going to do that for the most part.

Quinn isn't that type, he obviously wants to get paid.
