Brady Quinn (Fox CFB Analyst)

this is all the pomp and circumstance that surrounds such negotiations.

if you look at the salaries, jp losman's contract was pretty much in line with his draft slot. if this actually becomes a negotiation played out in the media, quinn and his agent will lose big time. they have no real firm ground to stand on, especially if cleveland makes a fair deal.

Glad that someone got my point. No one can deflect all blame from Quinn...he has the ability to snatch his agent by the short hairs and tell him, "Get me a signable deal...now!"

True... but... there is some peer pressure invloved here, if indirectly... there is sort of an unwritten rule that you're kind of supposed to get as much as you can lest you screw the next guy in the same situation by setting the market too low. (Similar to his agent's desire that he get the most for his client-- he wants more clients-- I don't see Master P representing guys all over the place.)

Part of this problem, and it ahs been mentioned before is systemic in the way they sign Rookies in the NFL... in that you get slotted according to the draft... but... the market isn't set to start with-- as in the NBA. At any rate... I tend to think that Quinn signs about the same time as the guys around him as far as draft order goes... but... who the hell knows when that's gonna be... and... its gonna be a steep signing bonus... lots of incentives but the annual salarly will be cap friendly.

I don't think the Brown care too much if he holds out. I think they believe they basically got next years first round draft pick in a year early and don't plan on rushing him on the field this year.

There is a difference between not wanting to rush someone onto the field, and someone not being on a field getting practice reps. Even if they don't plan to use him this year, each practice he sits out will hurt a bit come next year.

P.S. Brady still sucks! Had to get that out now while I can, it is going to be a sad day, when I start getting dinged over my hatred for Brady Quinn due to the boards strong Browns presence. :(

interesting how views are different for brady versus theosu holdouts...

The media hasn't let us know what the buckeyes are requesting, like we've heard what Brady wants (may not be true). Ginn is expected to sign soon, which is good he'd be the first top 10 pick. Gonzo, he needs to sign soon. Whitner, I think most the board ripped him apart last year for his long holdout.

I never liked or wanted Brady Quinn in the first place. I'm sure ND/Browns fans are perfectly fine with everything. I'm know I'm being harsh, but Quinn is going to have to turn into the next Manning or Brady in order for me to warm up to him.

They appear to have been wrong.

Disagree, I think i'm one of Whitners biggest fans on this website, as he was my favorite player on that nasty defense of two years ago. With that said, people arn't wrong for being upset about the holdout. He was reached for, holding out for the extra penny as long as he did was a poor choice. He had a good, yet overrated year with the Bills. He played solid, and can't be faulted but he also wasn't a 'playmaker' not that you need to be a playmaker to be useful to a defense but Whitner still has a ways to go to justify the holdout in my books. For now, nobody was wrong.

Okay just for clarification on your stance. If you are projected low, but a team reaches for you, you should be happy just to take the lower amount of money, but if you are projected high and slip, you should just be happy to didn't slip farther and take the lower amount also.

How about- If you are picked 22nd you shouldn't expect 10th money, or even more than what 21 is going to get.
