Brady Quinn (Fox CFB Analyst)

It's probably a little early to call Quinn a bunch of names and/or say the Browns will over pay. Bottom line is that he WAS NOT the #3 pick and does not deserve #3 money. Incentives Brady...it's called earning your money. If you truly are that great, you'll have every opportunity to earn some good cash.

Total BS. Reality is that if the Browns and he agree on a number it will be higher than their first offer yet lower than what he presently deems reasonable. It will most certainly NOT be top pick money.

This is not about the Browns not wanting to pay him. They simply don't wish to pay him more than he is worth as the #22 pick 1st round. They'll likely sweeten the deal, but not to top 3 or top 5 money, and not in the upfront cash.

Look for an incentive laden deal to be written, or look for Quinn to be on the outside looking in.

It is not total BS. When he signs it will be for what he thinks he is worth at the time, and really you can't blame him. Once again he owns the Browns nothing.

While it's true that he doesn't owe the Browns anything, it's a fact that he was the #22 pick. He should sign for more than the #23 pick and less than the #21 pick. It's quite obvious that there were 21 teams who chose to use their pick on a player that they thought more of than Quinn (including the Dolphins who chose to take their chances with Trent Green).

I'm a life long Browns fan and while excited about the possibility that Quinn MIGHT be the QB of the future, I also would advise him not to piss off Browns fans. Sign and get into camp.

I totally agree. Neither owes the other anything at this point. My problem is more with the people who think quinn should just get in camp and be happy. No he should make sure that he gets a contract he is happy with and then get into camp.

Logical or not, the opinion of the fans can have a dramatic impact on your career (See Tim Couch). It is not advisable to put yourself in a situation where you are making strict contract demands that the average fan will not understand and will despise.

And FWIW, the Browns probably don't trade next year's #1 to get Quinn if they thought they were going to have to pay him top 5 money. That trade was as much about taking a risk on a falling player as it was about avoiding another large rookie contract.

Buckin' A is absolutely correct that the contract should be incentive laden. If the guy thinks he is worth top 5 money, he can still earn it.

The other thing that the Browns must realize is that they have the bargaining power right now. They can play Charlie Frye - so they have options. Brady's only option is to hold out and get nothing.

So he asks for top-3, top-5 or top-10 type money today, which he isn't going to get, say he much later signs for something much closer to #22 money.

Does that make the Browns right all along?
Nope.
Does that really mean that Quinn later signed for what he feels he is worth?
No it does not not.

It simply means he later signs for what he could get. That is a big difference.

Lets all hold out on our jobs waiting for 5x the amount of money we are WORTH - then see how many of us get paid that amount.

Quinn can think he is worth all the fucking money in the world, doesnt mean he will get it. You logic is flawed because you believe he should hold out if he believes he is worth more, say he holds out and gets locked out for the year - he lost a years pay, the browns lost another 1st round pick and Bradys stock falls off the map next year... who wins in this scenario?

If Brady shuts up, plays his heart out and takes the job in mini camp (too late now) maybe he can restructure his deal next year and get the money he thought he deserved- Brady plays, Bradys paid, everyone gets some kind of benefit.

No progress in Browns-Quinn talks

Posted: Monday July 23, 2007 07:40AM ET

A 3 1/2-hour negotiating session on Sunday with Tom Condon, agent of Brady Quinn, failed to close a considerable gap between the Browns and the first-round quarterback from Notre Dame. It's possible talks could resume this morning, but there is no feeling a deal is near.

cleveland.com: Everything Cleveland

Has anybody heard any concrete numbers that he's asking for? Because if he is holding onto the pipe dream of top ten money, he can go fuck himself. It would be one thing if he was wowing people in the mini camps, but by all accounts he was struggling mightily. Swallow your pathetic pride, realize that you were the 22nd pick, get in camp, work your ass off and earn some money.

rumor is that cleveland is offering what jp losman got in 2004, inflated to '07 money. losman was a qb, picked 22nd, after buffalo traded a future 1st to get him.

Info on the status of our top 3 picks contracts....but here's the latest on Brady...

Of the three prized rookies, indications are Quinn is going to be the most difficult to get to an agreement. Sources tell the Orange and Brown Report that the rookie quarterback?s representative, Tom Condon seeks multiple escalators in the contract, which would boost Quinn;s salary to that matching a top-ten draft selection (Quinn was selected with the 22nd overall selection in the draft). Making matters increasingly trying is the demand Quinn be compensated well above that of the player drafted in the like position is prior drafts.

The Orange and Brown Report has been informed the Browns have offered a deal to Quinn which easily dwarfs in comparison the overall dollars and guaranteed money to the 22nd pick in any previous draft. As of Saturday afternoon, the Browns and representatives for the quarterback were still far from a contract.

I'm amazed how quick you all are to blame Brady and not his douche bag agent. Somehow Brady does not strike me as a "Show me the money!" kind of guy. It will be interesting if at some point Brady tells his agent to stop being a douche and just get a deal done so he can get on the field. BTW, does anyone know if the picks around him have already signed?
