I read somewhere he is seeking a contract comparable to past 1st round no3 picks. He believes the Browns intention was to get him at NO.3???

If they were going to do that, THEN WHY DIDNT THEY WHEN THEY WERE PICKING THOMAS?

I have hated Quinn since he went to ND becuase of his akward cockyness. Now its just stupid cockyness.

If he is expecting 3rd pick money this is going to be a loooong holdout. I'll give him the same contract as Thomas if he can start every game, be selected for the Pro Bowl, have the #1 passer rating, #1 passing game, and the Browns win the Super Bowl all this season. :p

:slappy:I just love this kinbd of attitude for fans. Hey the guy hasn't played a down for you yet, but lets boo him because he wanted more money. News Flash people, Quinn has every right to ask for how ever much money he wants. Hell I know it would take a boat load of money to get me to step into that cesspool of a city.

True, but he supposedly wanted to play here.

So. Does that mean he should take less money? Everyone says go play for your second contract. What if he blows out his knee or has a career ending injury? Then there is no second contract. And of course since NFL contracts are not guaranteed then he is SOL.

Get as much money as you can is what I say. If a team is willing to overpay you more power to you.

If you are a total tool (Quinns case) is it right for you to holdout and disappoint the hundreds, nay, thousands of fans who want to see the next first round failure from the Browns?

Sure if you are Reggie Bush, or Calvin Johnson then your ass is worth every cent you can get. But Quinn should just be happy we saved his ass from the Depths of the Second Round and/or the Raiders!

And the Browns management has every right to stick to their guns. Moreover they have that as a duty to the fiscal soundness of the team as a whole. They have a returning QB already in the fold. Training camp is coming up. This kind of ignorant and selfish hold-out (because let us face it Quinn certainly has the right to be ignorant and selfish) generally leads to a much longer time for a QB developing.

Which means he is worth less to the team.

Which is why if the Browns GM is sensible he will play Nelson and wait for Quinn's money driven ego snit to fade away when he realizes he hasn't been paid a dime by, say, October.

Sure it is your right to hold out. He is under no obligation to do anything for the Browns, they decided to move up and take him in the first round. He does not have to sign for anything other than what HE thinks he is worth. If the Browns didn't want to pay him they should not have drafted him.

And for the record Oakland would not have taken him the second round considering they took Russell in the first.

If he were to hold out for the entire season, where would he get drafted next year and how much would he get paid? I'd guess, especially when you consider the year-off, that he'd be taken lower than this year and get paid less than what the Browns are offering now.

If I'm the Browns GM, I put the number in writing and tell him to take it or leave. Let him st on it for a couple more weeks. His stupid ass will come around.

Total BS. Reality is that if the Browns and he agree on a number it will be higher than their first offer yet lower than what he presently deems reasonable. It will most certainly NOT be top pick money.

This is not about the Browns not wanting to pay him. They simply don't wish to pay him more than he is worth as the #22 pick 1st round. They'll likely sweeten the deal, but not to top 3 or top 5 money, and not in the upfront cash.

Look for an incentive laden deal to be written, or look for Quinn to be on the outside looking in.

He should worry more about his second contract because if he holds out at all he is going to be #3 on the depth chart for the whole season. What happens to him if somehow the changes that the Browns made on offense actually work and one of the other QB's has a good year? Quinn will be riding the pine for a few years like Phillip Rivers did in San Diego. Except for the fact that Rivers is a decent QB and Quinn is most likely a turd. If Quinn wants a chance of playing this year he can't hold out.
