Oden. One guy can make a much larger difference in basketball then football. An example is Chauncey Billups. Colorado came out of nowhere to became a force in basketball when he was there and disappeared off the face of the earth when he left. More examples: Larry Bird at Indiana State and David Robinson at Navy.

Oden is going to be surrounded by plenty of talent at Ohio State. I've got to like our odds at making a title run, especially if Oden stays more than a year or two.

I would say Oden just because he will probably dominate more in his sport, and single-handidly change the team around more, but Wells will be great in the long run because he will probably be around longer.

But we got both..... :groove:

I'll go with Oden. This kid is ready for the pros now. Although I agree he likely a "one and done" Buckeye, Oden coming here gives instant credibility to the Basketball program again.

Wells will be an impact player for us. Carve it in stone and bet the house on it. But Oden coming here was the key ingredient to us being a true national power on the hardwood again.

The question is, at 7 feet tall and mad hops, how do we get him in pads for Field Goal blocks?

After I read what jwinslow wrote, I skipped right to my own post.

Oden is the most anticipated BB recruit since Jerry Lucas, Hands Down. This got me to thinking, and not to highjack the thread or anything, but who do you guys see as the biggest FB recruit in the past 45 years, in terms of actual anticipation of him getting here? I'd have to say based on High School Hype, which really has only been around for about the past 30 years, I'd have to say it was Spielman ( The Wheaties Box was the kicker). Close second would be Katzenmoyer as USA TODAY POY.

Greg Oden - he brings a possible final four into the picture...

Our old friend was right on that call. :)

call back in 2009 and see what each did for the program.

Okay.

Interesting that Oden ran away with the poll back then. Has anyone changed their opinion? I think both were big gets but looking back now Wells gets the nod since Greg only played one year.

Actually I just voted in this poll

Oden by far. While both were great players and Beanie was around for 3 full years vs. Oden's 1/2, Oden's recruitment put OSU back on the basketball map nationally.

Don't take anything away from Beanie (and to be perfectly honest, if the teams he had been on cashed in just ONE of those BCS games he probably gets there), but Oden was best when it mattered most (there was no friggin WAY that last second shot by Tennessee was going to even hit the rim) and was honestly the ONLY reason OSU was even in the National championship game against Florida. He dominated that game.
