Big Ten Conference Divisions

The division names are terrible. How could they possibly allow the division names to begin with "L"s? Never mind that the names are corny...

And the new logo wouldn't be too bad if it didn't have the "TEN" under the B10 part, because the whole point of the B10 part was to incorporate the idea of "BIG" with "10" Stylistically. Adding Ten under it is redundant and throws off the aesthetic flow.

So after listening to the videos of Delany on the BTN, I understand a little bit better of what they were trying to accomplish (honoring the past & present)...from the names on the trophies, legends (past) & leaders (present), etc.

Then they should have named the divisions Honor and Tradition or something like that. (this isn't directed at you)

Honoring the conferences current "legends and leaders":

I'm actually not sure why they didn't go with this one:

Like ROY G BIV, I will now know the Big Ten as IMMMNN IIOPPW.

Husker fan here and when I first heard the names, I went huh? However, the more I think about it, the more I don't mind the names. The Big 10 is all about legendary players and great leaders (Woody, Bo, JoPa, etc.).

The Big 10 is loaded with history and tradition. What better way to honor that history and tradition by reflecting it in the names of the football divisions?

Merry Christmas to all and good luck in The Sugar Bowl.

Now that we have named the divisions and groupings, the next thing that has to be decided on, is where the championship game will be played.

I have not seen or heard any of that topic yet but maybe it has been discussed i guess. I was thinking on the lines of "Lucas" or "Ford" Field would be interesting of even the indoor stadium in St. Louis, but then again they have played the BIg 12 championship game there a couple of time, so that would be a conflict i guess.

Big Ten East and Big Ten West would work well - and be far less stupid than "Leaders & Legends"

To be honest when you're in a conference that was originally known as the Western Conference and you (allegedly) are trying to honor the conference's history...is it really such a stretch to go with Western & Eastern for the division names (Especially when most of the 'newer' schools are going to end up in the Eastern division)?

After looking at the various permutations of the logo I'm coming around to this view as well.

The B10/B1G alone isn't THAT bad. Go with a bolder color choice (what's wrong with the old dark blue?) and clean up the 0/G a bit and you have something that isn't half bad.

It's a stretch when the schools in each division are not separated by being in the east or the west.

If you weigh the geographic center of each division it certainly fits. It's also less of a stretch than labeling Northwestern a "legend".

No one is waxing apoplectic because Nashville is farther west than Auburn.
