Big Ten Conference Divisions

The designers weigh in...

Pentagram's Michael Gericke (a graduate of the University of Wisconsin) and Michael Bierut (husband of 30 years to an Ohio State alumna) . . . .

Notice how they intentionally obfuscate the fact that Bierut is a UC grad.

She needs to divorce his ass.

This shit is awful. I got about 5 calls from coworkers that knew I was an Ohio State fan, all ridiculing the "Legends and Leaders" nonsense. Good grief, it's bad.

awful...all of it...just poor. MS Paint logo, horrible division names, dumb trophies...they really paid someone to come up with that logo? Looks like it took 60 seconds to do that....shame on you big ten

There is NO DOUBT in my mind that the dolts at the Big Ten had the game moved until the fans got involved. Just a pathetic attempt

I feel like that dude in Mallrats who can't see the sailboat in the picture...for the life of me I do not see the 'II' or whatever its supposed to be in the 'TEN'...

and frankly, whoever took money to come up with complete horseshit just committed robberty. My 11 years old could have done better and that's not a fucking joke.

What names didn't make the cut?

Bloods and Crips?

Captain and Teneille?

Sonny and Cher?

Sampson and Delilah?

Chutes and Ladders?

Slow and Plodding?

Logo ehh, don't really care and honestly you dont see a ton of the actual big ten logo around anyway, unless bigten network adopts it. I think it would have been easier to name the division on some for of geography, but if they wanted to go with names, why not something like Honor and Tradition, still kinda lame but better than the current choice.

The only fair and reasonable response is for all fans of the respective Big Ten (12) schools to adopt a universal and logical naming scheme.

Big Ten East and Big Ten West would work well - and be far less stupid than "Leaders & Legends"

To make this really work of course you have to get the sportswriters to also adopt reasonable naming in place of Delany's delusion.

So, here on BP I fully expect that any and all future references to these new divisions will only use the following, fan approved nomenclature.

Big Ten East - Big Ten West.

Logo = Fail. My 3 yr old nephew could have done better.

Division names = meh, I'll probably never refer to them as such and will probably get them mixed up when I do hear them. I guess we took a cue from the ACC. Are we trying to outsmart their conference because we win a couple challenges in basketball?

the "Atlantic" and "Coastal" divisions aren't terribly bad names. Although no one around the country even knows who is in what division (Whether it's because it's harder to remember due to not being geographical or people just don't care because the ACC is garbage isn't really clear)

I don't mind the logo but it's plain and simple. I liked the old one better. As far as the division names. No. Just no. What's wrong with a east/west names? The name leader as compared to legends kinda seems demeaning to the "leaders" teams. And Nebraska is a legend despite never playing a down of b10 football? Just keep it east/west or lakes/plains

Just my $0.02.

The logo is bland. Nothing spectacular about it nor appealing.

The division names are moderately confusing to me. I think that Legends is fine; however, I shudder at the Leaders moniker. For some reason, it feels like they forced alliteration. It's a shame.

edit: I forgot to add: does it sound terribly oxymoronic to anyone else that the divisions are noted as Legends and Leaders in that order? One would think that on two accounts Leaders would precede Legends (alphanumerically and by very definition).
