Quick, send this to the Big Ten offices. Maybe there is still time! We can save them.

JWins , I figured you'd be on suicide watch after seeing these logos. Yikes.
Sent it to the Director of Branding. I doubt it has much of an impact after a formal anouncement, but photoshopping gray onto the Ohio Stadium tarmac did pan out via emails, so there's always hope.
Even if this is a form letter (it is a very fitting one), it is impressive to receive a response a day later, particularly with the onslaught of angry emails they surely received.

Hello Mr. Winslow,

I am sorry that you dislike the new Big Ten logo. Change is hard, but our hope is that the logo will grow on you more and more as you have the chance to see it in use over time.

Our previous logo served us well for the past two decades, but, with the addition of Nebraska, it was time for a change. We wanted the new logo to be simultaneously innovative and nostalgic. We conducted an extensive search and talked to lots of experienced professionals. Ultimately we hired Pentagram, an international company that ranks among the leading firms in logo and brand design. Much like the previous logo, we think the new logo will grow on fans over time as they see it in actual use?and we certainly hope that?s true for you.

Our fans are extremely passionate. They are engaged and they care. That?s a big part of why the Big Ten has been so successful for so many years, both on and off the field. That?s also why it?s so important for us to listen. We?re glad that you took the time to write, and we are humbled by the feedback?good and bad?that we receive from our many fans.

Thanks again for taking the time to write and to express your concerns. If you have any other questions or comments, please do not hesitate to give me a call.

I hope your passion for the Big Ten and its teams remains strong and that you and your family enjoy this holiday season.

Could have saved a lot of time with a simple;

Dear Mr Winslow,

Duly noted, now piss off.

Love Jim

Also, for the record I find the names and logo embarrassingly bad.

"This lettering is maybe a little less powerful because it's rounded and not nearly as chiseled. Maybe we didn't go from Hummer to convertible. Maybe we went from Hummer to a Prius, I don't know."

And you thought this was a good idea? Why?

I hate to say it, but Delaney not only looks like Dilbert's boss but he is also making comments on the same level.

The Plains and Lakes divisions idea mentioned earlier would've been best. Here's how I'd have aligned the teams:

LAKES
Michigan
Michigan State
Minnesota
Northwestern
Purdue
Wisconsin

PLAINS
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Nebraska
Ohio State
Penn State

Not only is this geographically most correct, it's pretty balanced with Michigan, Michigan State, and Wisconsin in one division and Nebraska, Ohio State, and Penn State in the other. It give Delany his spilt of Ohio State and Michigan and also allows him to maintain most rivalries.

I agree with you 100%, but:

Pick the names of two of the frickin' lakes. OK, you can't use Michigan. You can't call one of the divisions Superior. Ontario sounds too Canadian.

The Huron and Erie divisions. Done. Where's my $250K consulting fee, Jim?
So - "Big" and "Slow" were already trademarked???
