Isn't ND's leverage tied to the on-going TV contract negotiations?
They're the only school on the table which could potentially increase the $/school.
Any other school would likely need to go the Nebraska/Maryland/Rutgers route of reduced revenue for a number of years.
Your post intrigued me - Looking at their next three years through an NBC lens -
22
Marshall, Cal, Stanford, UNLV, Clemson, BC
23
Navy (Dublin, Ireland), Tennessee State, Central Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Wake Forest
24
Northern Illinois, Stanford, Navy (East Rutherford, NJ), Virginia, Dates TBD: vs. Florida State, vs. Miami (FL)
So how is that worth millions to NBC? How many eyeballs are you going to get with that line-up? I see one game in 22, two in 23, and nothin' in 24 that couldn't be shut out of the TV market for all but the most loyal Irish faux alums by FOX/ABC, and CBS/ESPN and a good placement of key games in the Big Ten and SEC from 12 noon to 11 at night. In fact, the Big Ten and SEC could ignore expansion and still make the NBC home game schedule pretty worthless.
