Who is this idiot and why does he hold his cellphone so close to his face?

It's really unflattering when your head is shaped like a potato.
I did literally laugh out loud at this. But he is the guy who was talking about USC and the Big Ten in March or April. He's either got legit sources or managed to get something really big to stick to the wall. Make your own decisions about which is true.

The timeline he's suggesting is assuming that any of the PAC teams want to tie themselves to their sinking ship of a conference with another GOR, outside of Washington St, Oregon St, and maybe Cal. I think that's a hard sell to the majority of their schools at this point. No one is gong to want to make it harder for themselves to leave the conference for more money elsewhere while the ship is sinking

Boston College then. Piss off the Irish by scooping up another Irish Catholic school in good media market.

And then let BC replace the domers in the hockey conference.

I'm at the point of fuck the domers. If we're going to go to 20: Washington, Oregon, Virginia and UNC (BC if the latter considers itself too Southern to be in the B1G.

Not sure what “leverage” that guy thinks ND has on the B1G. Would they like to have ND in the conference? Sure, it appears that way, and there are plenty of good reasons, but none of them should result in ND having “leverage” to dictate terms or anything. If the conference is allowing themselves in a position to let ND have leverage and not just the illusion of it, that’s a big problem. Fuck the Domers, the condition is you join as a normal member, we’ll consider getting Stanford to make you happier, but it’s not guaranteed. If they don’t like that, too bad, enjoy less revenue because the B1G doesn’t need you that badly.

I think this depends on what their options are and what the contract they're asked to sign looks like. Maybe the SEC is an option, but I don't think so. If Oregon and Washington, for instance, are told they're not getting a B1G invite at least until the next TV contract in 6 years, or whatever it may be, they may be willing to sign a GOR for 6 years if the money is better than the Big 12.
What leverage did USC have? As I understand it, they neither asked for nor received any special treatment. FOX called them and told them to pack their fucking bags.
No idea what leverage they may have had. He did post another video (@Dryden look away) that said USC and UCLA are going to be full partners day 1. That's a better deal than what Nebraska, Maryland, and Rutgers got who had to "buy in" to network ownership with reduced payouts for 6 or so years. So they had more bargaining power than those three (or KW is a much worse negotiator than Delaney. Equally possible).

Difference with Kansas is that UVA solidifies the mid-Atlantic region from Virginia to Connecticut. UVA is a top 4 public university, and Kansas is barely clinging to their AAU membership. Virginia is a top tier recruiting area; Kansas is crap. UVA has a nationwide alumni presence (really strong in DC and NYC) while Kansas is a regional school. A UVA/UNC package is an absolute no-brainer, and UVA alone is still skrong.

Yeah, if we only consider football, it’s a head scratcher. When looking through a wider angle lens, it’s more clear. Academics, geography, basketball and of course, lacrosse. UVa and UNC scratch each of those itches. I don’t know how we pull UNC without Duke being involved in some manner. I’ll gladly watch ACC lacrosse crumble to pull Duke into the fold.

Obviously, ND LAX is also a big deal… but fuck ‘em.

I’d love nothing more than pulling UVa / UNC and then balance geography for USCLA with Oregon and Washington.

Isn't ND's leverage tied to the on-going TV contract negotiations?
They're the only school on the table which could potentially increase the $/school.
Any other school would likely need to go the Nebraska/Maryland/Rutgers route of reduced revenue for a number of years.

We could take Duke and Kansas as basketball only schools, and make them drop football.

1. Fuck Notre Dame
2. Grab UNC and UVA if available
3. Grab UW and Nike Ducks to assist the noobs in Cali.
4. Tell Notre Dame to fuck off to the SEC
5. As others said, grab BC if UNC wants to play the "Bless your hearts, we are southern men" bullshit.
6. Allow Notre Dame to join the Big 12 while never scheduling them again for any B1G team...EVER!

In the interest of the kids in the western schools, I’d like to see the B1G add 3 western schools to make a proper western pod.

It’s still a long freaking way from LA to Seattle, but if the 20th school taken is Stanford or Cal instead of UNC or BC, then the difference to the western pod schools is travel to NoCal vs travel to Nebraska. That difference is significant to those kids, so it should be a consideration
