Does it change your calculation if the same deal also means that Ohio State also has all home games televised on FOX or NBC?

Hm. I never considered that as being on the table. I'm not crazy about any teams getting preferential treatment. I really don't see the "if" part of your question coming to fruition. But I really don't see a problem with BTN. It means I have to turn to channel 1333, instead of 1008 or whatever NBC is (1003, maybe?). Are any recruits out there saying, "Boof to Ohio State! They played their home game on BTN!" Will any recruits say the same about Notre Dame?
It's just Notre Dame's way of saying, "We're entitled to being different from the rest of you chumps."

I get where you are coming from, but the Blue Bloods in college football get preferential treatment all the time. The major networks are always going to want to show the games featuring major programs, even when they are having down years. My guess is that if NBC and FOX want to show other games than a 4-5 Notre Dame vs 1-8 Rutgers, Notre Dame will suck it up and let them show the game on BTN.

If I had my way, it won't be up to Notre Dame to "let" them show the game on BTN. The Big Ten would just say, "Shut your noise hole and play the game. It's going to be on BTN and you're going to see how far this plunger goes up your ass."

I'm okay with the networks choosing to show a specific game, or choosing to highlight this or that. But if it's in some rules that Team A has to be shown on Network X, I'm not okay with that. The rules should treat everyone equally, and let the play on the field and the number of viewers those teams support separate the teams. Just my IMO.

It makes zero sense (and cents) to have ND join the Big Ten and NOT have them on the Big Ten Network once or twice a year. That would be a missed opportunity to add subscribers all over the country and help add to the pot of gold

They better count their lucky charms if they get any of their non-sensical demands get brought to life. I hope they come up short

Notre Dame's opener last year was on Peacock premium. They're not too good for BTN. They're just negotiating.

And that's just it, there should be no negotiations. It should simply come down to the Big Ten offices sending them an offer sheet outlining what membership requirements and obligations are and what they will be receiving in exchange. After that, tell them to explore their options, make their phone calls, talk to whomever they need to talk to and then get back to us if our offer is acceptable.

USA Today 7/12/22 - "Where Does College Football Realignment Stand After USC & UCLA Shocked The World"

Good perspective on where everything currently stands. Big Ten & SEC will dictate the future playoffs (nothing will be equal). ND- will they stay or will they go? And what's going to happen to the other 3/5ths of the former Power 5

I agree. I think the Big Ten has the better hand, but Notre Dame is holding some solid cards and I'd be shocked if they didn't play them in a effort to get the best deal possible.

Supposedly ND is around $15 mil.

“USA TODAY Sports has spoken with 14 people who have insight into realignment in a variety of roles across various conferences, granting them anonymity so they could convey what they are seeing and hearing as accurately as possible without betraying confidential discussions being held within every league and athletic department across the country.”

I like the idea that anonymity enables someone to be more honest and to avoid betraying confidential discussions.
