I was on that board about a week ago and most were cool but there was a poster who was pissed because the big ten plays slow football... I couldnt fucking believe it. I was like "you do know the big 12 north doesnt have the "speed" reputation...

Yeah but I drove him off with humor. :)

(Okay, I am being prideful but I think I was pretty freaking funny bashing trolls in that thread, and the Huskers seem to like me now (in other threads) ) I'm making friends! Until we play them. . .

In all honesty though, I really can't wait to visit them. I hope our first game is away. I only go to one or two away games a year, and I would love for next year to be Nebraska if the 2011 scheduling rumors are true. . .

expansion without UT or ND is a fail

No way would I soil our scheduling with TSUN for anything else. I still hold out hope for either or both of those, but less than that and Delany fucked up more than he fixed up.

---6/11 Evening Update:

There is an unanticipated and fiery power struggle within the Texas academic and athletic leadership over conference affiliation. Notre Dame, likewise, is positioning itself. The Big East is no longer sustainable for Notre Dame.

It comes down to the concessions the Big Ten is willing to make. Will the Big Ten schools allow the Big Ten to scale back to 7 games for certain schools, for all schools, or will the entire conference stay at 8 games? Thought is that if it involved BOTH Texas and ND, the conference will agree to it.

Big Ten believes Texas will not settle for the Pac 10, and that there is a major split within the administration about what is best for Texas. Unclear, at this point, which side will prevail.

Texas also must wait until the Big 12 completely dismantles, and wants to make sure as many former Big 12 members get homes. Pac 10 targeting non Big 12 members as well.

Texas is up in the air - there is real anger that the Big 10 broke up the Big 12 with some Texas decision makers. Other Texas decision makers were complicit all along.

I don't see that as a problen gjiving the 7 conference games as they make some stipulations back. First of all Texas no more than 2 Texas teams in the non conf a year. I don't ewant to see Oklahoma, aTm, Texas Tech and Baylor on the schedule every year. Second of all Notre dame We know you love playing Army and Navy but you have to play one other good to great outside of USC. Third of all in case of a tie in division record I'd want to go to overall Big10 record. This one is a a maybe and not required.

And it looks like we have the possibility of losing Texas so to speak over backlash against the perceived destruction of their happy place the BigXII

Not trying to be an ass, but has anyone thought that maybe Delany and Co. were feeding the Purple guy a load of shit to make him look bad after the fiasco of a couple of weeks ago???

If Delany is as cut throat as we are being lead to believe these past few months that seems very plausible to me. I would love to get UT, but with all the PAC10 smoke I will be shocked if it happens.

I think the breakup of the B12 almost forces ND into the B10. If the Pac10 transforms into the Pac16, ND would have to be thinking that 16 team conferences are coming, and they better find a seat. If UT sways towards the B10, I think ND again has to think the time is now or never to enter the B10. ND is the big prize here, as sexy as UT is, and I think this move forces that in our favor. UT would be icing, but, as has been said, there seems to be an awful lot of Pac10 smoke.
