Further proof that Adam Rittenberg is too level-headed for this business...

The May 11 Entry of AR's Blog

Before we get started, a quick reminder. The only reports about Big Ten expansion that I'll address on this blog will be legitimate ones. I'm not going to acknowledge every unfounded rumor or speculative missive out there. So if you're wondering why I don't weigh on everything you hear, consider the original source. Or keep waiting.

Ive been on some NU boards to see what they are saying most seem excited but ive actually seen bitter Nebraska fans saying they dont want to play in the big 10 because of the slow style of play....wtf:lol:... do they know what people think of the big 12 north....

Finally, the last thing to think about with ND is hockey and the potential for a Big Ten Hockey Conference. If ND says no to this final invitation would BTHC say no to ND? Just something to think about...

Aboslutely ZERO chance that the Big Ten does anything for the domers if they reject the rumored offer! There's already enough bad blood towards South Bend. If they do go ahead with a BTHC, I'm sure that the powers that be will be quite happy to see ND left behind with the Fredo schools, the Michigan directionals and Alaska.

Yeah, I wonder how much speed was on display in that epic 7-9 loss to Iowa freakin State this past year?

Fucking people hear an ESPN blurb enough times it becomes gospel.

I still have no confidence in Jim Delaney. Maybe he'll surprise us....

The reason we are the forerunner in this expansion charge is largely cause of him. He's put the Big Ten in a position to solidify itself as the largest, most powerful conferences in all metrics of comparison. Even if he fails to land the prized schools we are after, the best anyone else can hope for will be to match us.

Has Boston College ever come up when talking expansion? If the Big Ten is going to go after Rutgers, Syracuse, and UConn then why not Boston College (maybe add them all and corner the Northeast market). I would think the Boston TV market would be a market the Big Ten would want and I would rather have BC than the ones I mentioned above. Any thoughts on this?

I'd much rather have BC than Rutgers as well.

If you add 2 east-coast teams, I'd prefer a combo of BC + either Rutgers or the 'Cuse.

The only difficult thing would be geography - they are somewhat far away from the rest of the B10 market...If you did take another East Coast-esque team like Rutgers or Syracuse, it'd make a bit more sense.
