Care to reconsider that statement?

1. Godfather
2. The Adventures of Pluto Nash
3. Inspector Gadget
4. The Avengers
5. Battleship Earth
6. Waterworld
7. Heaven's Gate
8. Ishtar
9. Stop, Or My Mom Will Shoot
10. Godfather III (for symmetry)

If you liked Battleship Earth you might want to check out Battlefield Earth as well. It's Tom Cruise's favorite movie.

I had a pretty miserable weekend of movie watching, but I'm running out of new movies to watch.

Hostel - great T&A, but not much of a movie.
Grandma's Boy - not bad dumb and funny at the same time
Benchwarmers - left the theater thinking that is the stupidest movies I have ever seen, but I laughed my ass off as well.
The Talented Mr. Ripley - gayest movie this side of Brokeback Mountain and it seemed like it would never end.
The Devils Rejects- Not fucking much of a fucking movie, but I fucking fell asleep for a few fucking minutes near the fucking end so who the fuck knows if it was any fucking good or not.

I have some movies to watch that are in this thread, but I have a hard time working up the desire to sit through some 2+ hour epics.

As far as my favorite movies I put this together a while back:

 • Fight Club
 • Godfather
 • The Matrix
 • Office Space
 • The Game
 • Big Fish
 • <ST1:p<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />South Park</ST1:p
 • Shawshank Redemption
 • Chasing Amy
 • Animal House
 • Ocean’s 11
 • There’s Something About Mary<O:p</O:p
 • Goonies
 • Heat
 • The Usual Suspects

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Kirk Douglas version)

Hawg, by the looks of your list you need to see Leon The Professional if you haven't. One of the best movies no one has ever heard about. The debut of a 13 year old Natalie Portman (from The Nati BTW). Wicked and demented movie that is spectacular from beginning to end. Portman at 13 is better than most actresses ever dream of. Brilliant flick.

I should have said Battlefield Earth - Battleship Earth was the book written by L. Ron Hubbard.

But that list, other than the Godfather, was a total joke - because of what BKB had posted.

I agree that The Professional is an excellent flick. Gary Oldman is also good in it.

To not overwhelm my list of one director, era, style, genre, etc, my personal Top 10 probably breaks down like so:

1) 2001: A Space Odyssey
2) Apocalypse Now
3) Ran (over a handful of other Kurosawa films ... Rashomon, Seven Samurai ...)
4) The Shawshank Redemption
5) Raiders of the Lost Ark
6) Schindler's List
7) Casablanca
8) The Battleship Potemkin
9) Paths of Glory
10) The Apartment
crap ...
10b) Goodfellas

IMHO, Casablanca is grossly underrated by the "younger" generation of movie goers (and I say this at the age of 31 myself), while I feel pretty strongly that Citizen Kane is generally overrated by just about everybody -- not to say that it isn't a great, great film.

The more I think about lists like these, the more I'm convinced that we may have lived in the most influential period in cinema history and not known it ... the 90s. There are so many movies from 1990-1999 that are worthy and difficult to argue or find fault with when considering among the greatest of all time.

8) The Battleship Potemkin
Wow, have not seen that since a Cinema Appreciation class in college. If you liked that you must see Leni Reifinsthals (sp?) Nazi Propaganda film Triumph of the Will.

Man then there's Bunuel, and Fellini.

I am going to have to make some additions to my Blockbuster Que also.

2001 a Space Odyssey must be the most boring big budget movie ever! :sleep1:

"Dave. I'm sorry. Dave, I'm afraid. Dave, I'm afraid. Dave, I'm afraid. Dave, I'm afraid. Dave, I'm afraid. Dave, I'm afraid. Dave, I'm afraid. Dave, I'm afraid. Dave, I'm afraid. Dave, I'm afraid ..." Jezzus!
