That being said, I wouldn't put it past him to show up in great shape laughing about the media thinking he was serious about all this. Or maybe I'm delusional. That's always a possibility, too. :p
Well I think it is only fair to clarify this as a two-parter ...

Yes Bucky Katt is delusional - wearing a pancake as a hat gives that away ..

As for Chad and his likely presence, my take is this:

Chad was responding to what Palmer stated he heard from Johnson's lips. I personally don't believe Palmer is anything approaching genius level, but I trust he can hear and understand simple statements like "I'll be there." So, I believe this is just more arm-twisting by Johnson, more show-boating, more angling for a better deal he knows he hasn't a chance of getting.

And that he will turn up to play.

And how is it a good thing that the franchise receiver is telling the franchise quarterback to stay out of his business?

I know hope springs eternal, but this smells like Donovan vs. TO Part II. I don't see how it could turn out any other way. He was a problem in the locker room last year. He's constantly a distraction on and off the field. And while he may be the one guy on the team that stays out of jail, he's easily the biggest character issue the Bengals have had to address this offseason.

As a Browns' fan, nothing makes me happier than to see the Bengals implode. But I sided with McNabb and the Eagles when TO acted like a bitch - I'll side with the Bengals on this one as Chad Johnson continues to whine like a bitch.

I think we're missing the point Chad "I'm a crybabybitch" Johnson has tested Palmer's leadership. So far Carson has not been pulled into the mud, has done the mature thing and sided with the franchise. Carson will not allow this to blow up in his face.

Go F**k yourself Chad

I'm still (*cough* in denial *cough*) not convinced this is real. Palmer and Johnson have been close and worked together a lot in off-seasons past and have always seemed to be pretty close.

Please, please, please let them just be yanking the media's collective chain.

I tend to think the same thing. One thing that stands out is when he is on live and recorded he says he will be there, but when ever there is not recording is when the story of him saying he wants to be traded come up. Maybe it's just a pipe dream but seems odd to me.

Cause I wanna hit what you are on

I don't think it is that hard to beleive. Right now is a slow time of the season for the NFL. You can only say so much about the draft, just finding any type of controversy to talk about will get the lemmings to tune into espn.

I love the Bengals...I like CJ...and I would love to believe he's just screwing around, but one thing that Chad has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt over his career is that he is all about marketing himself and maximizing the dollars he can earn beyond his playing contract (not saying it in a good way or bad way, just saying).

Banter thru the media back and forth with Carson (if you believe he's just effing with reporters) is one thing, but I don't think he'd say "I don't want to play for the Bengals any more / in Cincy" and tell everyone he's going to hold out if he didn't truly think it would get him traded because I think that will kill any remaining popularity in Cincy he has. And whining every other day on ESPN/NFL Net., getting booed at home games and villified on talk radio won't make you a Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods of the advertising world.

Houshmandzadeh anticipates 'problem' if Johnson not dealt

ESPN.com news services

Updated: April 17, 2008, 10:35 PM ET

Wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh said Thursday the poor relationship between the Cincinnati Bengals and disgruntled receiver Chad Johnson could pose problems for the team.
"If he's not traded, it's going to be a problem," Houshmandzadeh told ESPN's Bob Holtzman.
Houshmandzadeh told ESPN he talked with Johnson and quarterback Carson Palmer on Wednesday after Johnson demanded to be traded by Cincinnati.
Houshmandzadeh said Johnson told him he wasn't playing. But Houshmandzadeh said: "I think he'll eventually show up, but then you have to worry about how much of a distraction he'll be," Houshmandzadeh told ESPN.

Bengals
USC tackle prominent on wish list for defense

The Columbus Dispatch

CINCINNATI -- Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer has played the role of amateur scout in recent months, watching draft prospects on television, working out with them and picking the brains of folks who know them. He will lobby team officials on behalf of a few players before the draft begins Saturday.
One of his primary targets has been defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis, who, like Palmer, is a former Southern California standout and a player who fills an obvious need for the Bengals.
Palmer's scouting report:
"Nothing but great things. He's a guy we can definitely use. Playmaker. And a great guy, from everybody I've talked to. Great character."

Odell PLEASE come back in shape

Marvin PLEASE play him
actually niether wil probably happen

He has already been working out with the team, for a few weeks, since Goodall let him start doing that a few weeks ago. This means now he can participate in the mini camps and such.

I have a feeling he is going to come back in shape. I know he went to rehab for his drinking and he says he doesn't drink at all anymore. If he can come in a prove himself and show anything close to the beast that he was his rookie year, he will be a big step in the right direction for this defense

Who else are they going to play? Odell was far and away better than expected on the field in his rookie season. The rest of the LB corps during his hiatus has been underwhelming to say the least.
