Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Lewis more or less wash his hands clean of Thurman
Let's allow Lewis' words to do the talking ...

"Odell has met the NFL's conditions for reinstatement and has been added to our off-season roster," said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis in a press release.
"It is now up to Odell to continue to meet all NFL guidelines, and to maintain a standard of personal responsibility that will allow him the chance to compete for a spot on our team."

Doghouse yes, still, not done.

I'm seriously torn on this one. On one hand, I love that the Bengals are playing hardball with him and forcing him to put up or shut up. But, on the other hand, if the deal is good (not necessarily saying the Skins offer is good or not), then you have to do what's in the best interest of the team.

Bengals: Many picks, many options
But Lewis says trading Johnson not one of them

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

CINCINNATI -- The Bengals will be busy during the draft this weekend. Their extra picks should allow them to be creative. Their rash of injuries, suspensions and uninspired play in recent seasons demands that they be efficient.
"We need to make up some ground," coach Marvin Lewis said yesterday.
The Bengals have the ninth overall pick and 10 picks in all, including four they received as compensation for free agents lost before last season. They could use their multiple late-round picks to trade up early in the draft and acquire a player who can step into the lineup immediately, or they could use the picks to stockpile players who might develop in the coming years.

Sedrick Ellis logged 8 1/2 sacks and four tackles for loss during his senior season at USC.

Like most high school All-Americans who play football at Southern California these days, Sedrick Ellis had to wait, watch and learn from a college All-American early in his career. By the time Mike Patterson headed to the NFL, Ellis was eager to fill his role.
Too eager, it turned out. He sailed through his first game as a starter, against an overmatched Hawaii team, prompting a visit to the principal's office.
"Coach (Pete) Carroll called me in and told me, 'We need you right now and you have to step up. You have to fill some big shoes,' " Ellis recalled at the NFL scouting combine. "The next week, I had some great practices and worked hard because I didn't want to let him down and I didn't want to let my teammates down.

Bengals put out sign: Pass rushers wanted

Clemson defensive end Phillip Merling is on the Bengals' short list of players they're considering with the No. 9 pick.

CINCINNATI -- Marvin White will be watching intently today when the Bengals make their first pick of the NFL draft. As rookies last season, White, Leon Hall and Dublin native Chinedum Ndukwe played their way into prominent roles in the defensive backfield. As second-year players, they can use some help.
"It just makes your job a whole lot easier if you get pressure on the quarterback," White said. "Look at the New York Giants. They put so much pressure on the quarterback in the Super Bowl, the DBs really didn't have to cover too long. That allows you to make plays in the secondary. It all starts up front."

Thougts on todays draft? I was beyond pissed to see both of Ellis and Dorsey get taken...our DT's are pathetic. I know we have many needs to address but that was the highest imo and we didn't get to address it. Rivers is a really good pick imo but on the other hand, I would have liked to see us trade down and get Kenwan Balmer. Not too angry about the 1st pick. However, who the heck is the 2nd guy they took? A WR from Coastal Carolina when DeSean Jackson and Limas Sweed were on the board still? Granted I've never seen this guy play, he better be a frickin' Pro Bowler for not taking another defensive player. It also shows we aren't likely to keep Chad and I don't even want to see him back. I used to be a huge fan but he pissed me off the way he disrespected Palmer and told him to "stay out of his [my] busines." Good riddance but I think Palmer is good enough to get the ball around to just about any WR's we field. However, our defense is vital to improve and we took at least one step today...the next 3 out of 4 better be a step in the same direction. I know we suck all over the board and won't likely be competitive next year anyways but still...

I've watched the kid for four years. He has every tool and then some. You can look forward to this type of play.

Google vid

His old QB plays for KC, his old safety plays for the Panthers. He comes from a solid program with solid coaching, you won't be disappointed.
