BCS Chances (El Gigante Merge)

this thread has gone to shit since people refuse to read what has already been stated multiple times...

at any rate, the gap between Ohio State and Oregon has widened to .054, and the gap between Ohio State and #4 LSU has widened to .054...

we actually gained some ground on Va Tech though...

Lets say LSU in Cap Bowl.
NCAA Stats for LSU.
Defense #5
Offense #57

ND in Fiesta.
NCAA Stats.
Defense #65
Offense #10

Is this a wash? It looks like LSU is better. And consider the schedule of both.

I say LSU would be much tougher.

I would much rather play ND than LSU, Auburn, Georgia, or VT.

I'm sure ND is rooting to get Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl because that is the only team they know they can beat.

Notre Dame better be hoping that they get in... the selection process... ie who the at large teams are and who gets to play who is all closed door back room BS... the last thing Notre Dame wants is the BCS getting itslef backed into a corner and taking the top 7 plus WVU to protect its own legitimacy...

I realize that the sponsors wnat Notre Dame (and Ohio State for that matter) but on the other hand, they need to be able to justify leaving Oregon Out... and when it gets to matters of 'self-justification' the BCS could do strange things... like take the top teams in the BCS system.

Yes, it makes too much sense, so it won't happen.. but you never know.

Oregon is a worse version of ND.

Agreed. ND is overrated, but Oregon is even more so. They've played one good team all year, the game was at home, and they were totally destroyed. ND's not that good, as they showed against Stanford, but they've showed me more this year (beating scUM, hanging with USC) than has Oregon. But both are overrated.

Luckily the Fiesta Bowl would be crazy to put ND against WVU when they could have PSU or OSU. Junker is too smart for that.

Oh, no way would WVU go to the Fiesta... was just saying ND could probably beat WVU is all. :p

Herby was on 1460 saying ND v. OSU is likely. Says the arguement should be between ND and Oregon as to who deserves it. OSU has #5 SOS in the nation according to the NCAA, Oregon around 38 and ND 60.

Not that Mandel (of SI) is always the brightest star but his predictions also say that OSU-ND will be a lock for the Fiesta. He then has Oregon slipping all the way to the Holliday (as the #2 Pac10 team) vs. Oklahoma.

And here is John Walters take (who thinks the same - but a lil outside of the box):

Given the recent articles by Fiesta reps and execs, I would say it will be an instant classic of OSU vs. ND.
