BCS Chances (El Gigante Merge)

very true. I would not be surprised if you guys were right. I just think that beating the greatest team ever could pay dividends with emotional voters... b/c they are receiving even more hype than the 02 canes who were favored to win by about 7,000 pts in the NC game. This is a 22 point spread. It would be a monumental upset.

USC isn't even getting all of the #1 votes. Anyone who thinks this USC team is the greatest team ever stands a very good chance of being retarded.

Here's the top of the new BCS standings. We've edged ahead of VaTech in the computer polls, but aren't close enough in the human polls to catch them unless they get beat.

Yeah...so much info is out on Sunday's that it's really easy to see how the poll is going to turn out. There is no way Ohio State can be jumped...and there is no way that Ohio State will jump anybody unless they lose. Margins are way too big. I would feel though, that if UCLA was able to beat USC...they they could have a shot at jumping over us. And why not? Hell a 10-1 record with a win against USC is pretty good. The loss to Arizona looks ugly though...so I don't know.

An LSU and Va Tech loss would put OSU at 4, and PSU (#3) is already in because it's a conf. champ... would that mean OSU is assured?

The BCS #4 spot is an automatic bid as long as #3 is a conference champ.

If #3 is an at-large bid, #4 is NOT guaranteed a spot.

This is a recording.

So if we end up 4, and Texas or UCLA is #3, we're screwed by ND getting the 2nd at-large bid.

If we are #4 and Penn St., LSU, VaTech., or USC is #3, we are guaranteed a spot. That's because USC wins that Pac-10 tiebreaker you refuse to explain for us. :tongue2:

OK.... For UCLA to jump to #4 in the BCS they'd need to move up top #5 in all the polls... that is, Coaches, Harris and Puters...

I cant see human voters putting UCLA at 5 (A jump of 6 spots in each poll) and there is no way in hell the Computers would be "emotionally swayed" by such a win.

I strongly believe either LSU or VaTech will be beaten. Both obviously have been beat before and have many other scares that shown their weak points. Now, even if they both win out, and all TV Ratings aside, I would still get ready to see an ND-OSU matchup based off of the facts alone. The three major contenders for at-large spots are OSU, ND, and Oregon. The 1 loss of Oregon sounds like they should be a shoe in with ND, but its not so simple my friends. Take a look:

Winning teams beaten:
OSU 5 > Oregon 5 (if you count 1aa Montana) > ND 3

Opp. Combined Record:
OSU 72-49 > Oregon 65-57 > ND 58-62

Current Top 25 Teams Beaten:
OSU 2 > ND 1 / Oregon 1

Strength of Schedule (based off of Saragin):
OSU 2 > ND 20 > Oregon 31

Best Team Beaten:
OSU - Mich (then 17th) / ND- Mich(then 3rd) / Oregon - Fresno (then 25th)

BCS Rank:
OSU 6 > Oregon 7 > ND 8
