It was an all-around disappointing week. The Bengals hit rock bottom. Rose Bowl officials refused to penalize USC's taunting fool, Dwayne Jarrett. And Bob Knight actually made us like him by showing some emotion.

Alex Boone and older brother J.J. were playing a spirited game of HORSE one day in the family's driveway. Always the competitor, Boone ? in eighth grade at the time with a size-17 shoe and 6-foot-2 frame ? climbed onto the garage for the trumping move.

Ohio State, Florida boast strong, money-making athletic departments

During the summer, the University of Florida football team held what it termed Champions Day in Gainesville. As part of the program, coach Urban Meyer ordered a 20-minute video with clips from the 1996 national title-winning Gators, the Miami Heat, the Pittsburgh Steelers and other championship teams.

When the University of Florida lost 27-17 to Auburn on Oct. 14, its defense didn't allow a touchdown. In fact, the unit has allowed just 17 scores this season, which is fifth-best nationally.

And with Heisman Trophy-winner Troy Smith at quarterback and ample talent at the skill positions, the Buckeyes have kept foes guessing all season.
