Game Thread BCS Championship Game, tOSU vs. Florida - Jan 8th

``Tres knows what he's doing,'' said Flossie. ``He owns this state. He knows we have good players here, and he comes and gets them. Some of them aren't the 5-star kids, according to the recruiting service. They are 2-star or 3-star kids, but they become 5-star players at Ohio State.''

This says it all...

This is good stuff. You have to read this.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...72707.column?coll=orl-sports-headlines-gators

Here's how that column four years ago began:

"The desert will be overrun with Ohio State fans. It will look like a Buckeyes home game. Miami fans will be outnumbered at least 5 to 1. And you know what? It won't matter. By the time the Fiesta Bowl is over, the scarlet on the shirts of the tens of thousands of Ohio State fans will match the color on their faces. The famous "Script Ohio'' will look more like a "Scrapped Ohio.'' The traditional dotting of the "i'' will be replaced by the burning of the game tape. Mark my words: The Buckeyes' players will get hit in the mouth so hard and so often, they'll think Woody Hayes still is coach."

Blah, blah, blah.
This guy needs to read the article posted earlier about how the UF players are acting like kids in a candy store and the OSU players look like all business.

I love that he picked UF though, histopry tells us he is worng in these games!!

I liked the part about Saban, that was funny stuff. Being a "tongue in cheeker" myself, I can tell this guy was right there.

We being tOSU not JT. Our record against the SEC is 0 -7

So what does that have to do with this game? I think Tress has pretty well demonstrated that things that happened under Coop don't happen under him. Hot Tub John is responsible for 5 of those 7 losses.

Gators find it takes two

QBs Leak, Tebow bring different strengths to offense
Sunday, January 07, 2007 Jodie Valade
Plain Dealer Reporter
Scottsdale, Ariz. - It works because they are completely different.
Chris Leak is the traditional drop-back quarterback, all strong arm and rainbow passes. Tim Tebow is the fearless runner they call "And One."

So what? 6 of these games came before the JT Era. He has redefined what OSU football means. This is like the scUM fans bringing out the over all record when they don't like hearing that the last 5 of 6 have been won by OSU.

Buckeye statesmen

In everything they do, coaches Meyer and Tressel show that their Ohio roots run deep
Sunday, January 07, 2007 Jodie Valade
Plain Dealer Reporter
First, a riddle:
If Florida coach Urban Meyer grew up 77.6 miles from Ohio State coach Jim Tressel, then went to college 231.4 miles from where Tressel went to school, and took his first head coaching job 183.2 miles from Tressel's first head coaching job, what are the chances anyone in Ohio will utter a solitary cheer for Meyer's Gators when they face the Buckeyes in a game 2,059 miles away?

Bowl cut for Buckeyes' guards: Mohawk

Sunday, January 07, 2007 Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter
Scottsdale, Ariz.- Bowl practice is about more than preparing for the final game of the season. It's also a time for coaches to talk to young players about becoming leaders and for seniors to ready the underclassmen for life without them the following season. That's the only way to explain Steve Rehring's hair.

Agreed. I don't care if they were all under Cooper, or none under Cooper. Assuming Tressel is doing his job, Ohio State's previous records vs. the SEC, Florida, or Florida teams have nothing to do with tomorrow night. The only way that ANY previous games can be a factor is if the knowledge of those stats get to the players, and Coach Tressel can't keep his players focused on THIS game.

Here is the original post. You are splitting off one line and taking it out of context. As you see the post was about speed being a factor in football games. And of course the prior record has nothing to do with this years game.

Speed is just as essential as execution and attitude. Back when Earle played Fla St. in Cols. They whipped our butt with speed. In 2002 we beat Miaml in spite of their speed. We have lost 7 games to SEC teams with speed.
It is possible that overall Fla does have more speed than we do. It is one of the things that is the strentgh of their team.

The question is do we have the speed and execution and attitude to overcome their speed and vice versa.
We have to keep Harvin inside and contained and we have to play very disciplined and stay at home agianst this tricky offense. I don't believe they will be able to run straight up against us.
Do these things and we will win.
