Well all I got from the majority of the commentary this past weekend is that The Ohio State Buckeyes should not even show up and play. I can only recall hearing 3 guys all weekend say Ohio State would win. I guess the haters are still hoping someone will Beat the Buckeyes so they can be happy for once this football season.

I honestly don't think there are many national media pundits that truly think Florida WILL beat Ohio State... The way I see it is the many people who are picking Florida to win are in one of these camps:
  • Proponents of a playoff system... if Ohio State wins the only team that has a gripe is Boise State, if Florida wins then you'll hear a bunch of whining about a playoff being the only way to decide the champion.
  • Wanting to pick the upset so they can tell everyone else "I told you so" (see the few that picked Ohio State in the '03 CG)
  • Piss off Ohio State fans for controversy and ratings... see ESPN for the professionals at this (in general, not just at Ohio State). All ESPN has to do is mutter this small phrase and listen to the whining commence: SEC speed. :wink:

The build up to this game reminds me of the movie, The Great White Hype. You make up some bullshit to sell the game, spew it long enough and dumb fucks will buy it.

The Bowl games to date have shown me exactly what I thought was the case all year long. The SEC is by far the best conference top to bottom. Their bad teams are better than everyone else's.

Their good teams however, are not all a bunch of top 5 juggernauts who would all steamroll through another conference undefeated. Auburn, Arkansas and Tenn all were on equal footing with the teams they were playing yesterday. If anyone thinks the SEC is that much faster or better at the top than others they are just blind homers.

Also, I will actually be watching the LSU vs ND game with much more interest now. If LSU doesn't wax ND then the top fo the SEC could very well be even weaker than I thought they were.
